Yea, I haven't taken pics of dead clappys. Most just get dark....a blackish hue. The flavor gets kind of black...off, burnt like.

Ballpark figures I can probably get 50 mls of juice through a set of duals depending on the juices I'm running.

Chinese clappys last much much less. Hope this helps.

If you are cleaning your coils they will last a very very long time. I usually only pull a build when I get bored with it. I've never had to replace a coil because it turned to dust. If I were to take a guess I'd stay 6 months or more if its cleaned every time you rewick, hell maybe longer then that.

I have a different experience. I am like you, I replace coils because i get bored with them. However, for the times that I have ran fused claptons, I found that they usually last no more than 3 weeks. Depending on the type of wire you are using, the more you dry burn your coils, the more the metal oxidize. It will get to a point where you will need to dry burn every single day because gunk just sticks on your coils so much faster. The sweeter your juice, the shorter your coils will last.

Now back to your question, you will know when a pair of coil is ready to be thrown out when the shiny wire just turns into a dark dark grey color.

IMHO, aliens and fraples outlast all my fused clapton builds.

The problem with these type of threads, at least for me, is that length of time has no meaning. When somebody says "my claptons last one week" that means absolutely nothing without knowing the wattage, the juice used, and possibly most important: how much do you vape?

If somebody is getting a month out of their coil, vaping 10ml per day on that coil, then I might get 2 months vaping 5ml per day - all else being equal (which it likely is not).

Me? I just vape my stuff till I'm bored or it's not performing the way I want. No metrics, no "how longs?", no worries...simple really.

visually you may never be able to tell (i can't anyways). indicators:
A drop of in flavor/vapor production that isn't fixed with a dry burn re-wick, resistance creep,up,
or they're pretty weak when you try to pull you're cotton.

I started dropping mine in the ultrasonic cleaner as opposed to dry firing / pulsing them, and they seem to last much longer(previously about a month, now I'm not sure as the coils still look good after 2 months). How much do I vape? Hmmm..not 100% sure, but if I had to guess....varies....15-30ml per day....average 20ml day, 140ml week, 500 month...(wow...that seems like a lot, hadn't actually thought about it before).....

Anymore, I vape using TC, using SS316L or 304L. I've never made my own Claptons, I just buy pre-made (Clapton, Fused Clapton, and twisted/braided) wire, and make my own coils. I usually set wattage at about 65w, temp between 400f-500f. I generally don't do sweet juices, but I do quite a few that gunk coils, like coffees, some that contain chocolate, graham cracker, banana, strawberry, greek yogurt , blueberry.....I usually get about a week or so, and then I'll remove the cotton, take the RTAs/RBAs apart and put them in the cleaner for about 3-5 minutes....

That said, I do use about 3-4 RTAs, and 2-3 drippers at them same time, with different flavors....

For example, vaping right now....

Downside
Mother's Unicorn Milk
Smooth Morning Kick
Dragon's Blood
Sucker punch

All of my juice is DIY 70vg/30pg, 6mg nic in pg base...., and I usually don't add sweetener.....

I have to re-wick a few tonight, I'll take before and after pictures and add them to the thread..
