The bf mod that should not have had this chip

Hi all

there was a thread dedicated to the pulse 80W squonk mod.
It's been closed for obvious reasons but as I still have a preorder running and I'm sure there will be other developments until it gets delivered I think we must have a thread for it.

So please let's write here about what is and not what should have been.
(ie : if you have some infos about this vvape custom chip or things like this ...)

Here's the info that was included in the email from MyVPro that day the change to use the proprietary chip was announced:

The new chip to be featured in the Pulse 80w BF Squonk mod is a proprietary chip made by Vandy Vape. The chip has been tested and it will suit the needs of this device.The Vandy Vape chip will have all of the features present in the Gene chip,(80w, ultra fast firing, ease of use, etc.) with additional features, such as Voltage By-Pass Mode.

So it doesn't really tell us much at this point. I noticed VV changed the images on the website to 'remove' the display that used to show the Gene chip screen, it now says 'Pulse chip' inside the mod, etc. I've been checking the site regularly to see if they update the specifications of the included chip. Those appear to be the same they were for the Gene chip.

In all honesty, considering what went down here, I'm actually looking forward to trying the new VV chip. I realize it's their first chip, but I doubt they designed it from the ground up, it might be pretty darn solid. As long as it has firmware update capabilities and VV releases firmware in a timely manner for issues, then I'm good with it all at this point. I'm sure if there are serious issues, they will be releasing firmware to address them, especially with everything that happened here.

I know they will probably be rushed trying to get this out, but I would prefer they take a little more time and ensure it's solid going out the door. It sounds like VV has had this chip in the works for some time anyways. So it's not like they are throwing it together in a few weeks.

I've also got these on pre-order (multiples), but I'm trying to be positive that this will work out for the best. Perhaps with the less expensive chip, it will be more widely adopted if the initial reviews are positive.

VooPoo is not a vendor, it's a manufacture.
Not any difference from negative comments toward Kanger, Eleaf, etc. that are allowed.
Maybe a mod can clarify, the decision.
Looking forward to trying the new VV board.

IDK either, other than perhaps it's another "manufacturer drama" that we don't need, but I do agree that if any threads should be closed, maybe some of the smok threads as well? But who knows, I don't make those kind of decisions.

I do hope the new chip is good, but I guess we will be finding out...

Not any difference from negative comments toward Kanger, Eleaf, etc. that are allowed.
Maybe a mod can clarify, the decision.

Couldn't agree more. There is no bashing going on that I see. There are just real comments regarding what went down, and I think it's fair we are able to discuss this since it affects our decisions as consumers. I think the closest thing to bashing are folks saying they will boycott VooPoo products. So what? That gets said here every day about SMOK mods.

The main Pulse thread that was closed contains all of the information for the original Pulse mod and the info leading up to the release of this (pre-drama). So new threads need to be started for them now?

I don't see why the thread was closed down either. If the admins feel this is not appropriate material, then delete the comments since the drama started and leave the original thread intact please.

I'm also actually looking forward to the VV board at this point.

For some reason, now that the cat is out of the bag, gearbest has listed the pulse 80W for presale. I found it very strange that they didn't list the pulse 80W with the gene chip, seeing they're usually pretty quick on putting stuff up on presale, now it's even stranger that they immediately list the one with the VV chip. It looks like they knew the gene version wouldn't be a thing. I wonder what's been going on behind the scenes but we will probably never find out.

I’m also confused about why that thread was closed, and I do hope a mod will pop in to explain. Granted, it’s their sandbox and they can do as they please, but giving the reason “vendor bashing” in a thread that, to my eye, had zero vendor bashing is puzzling.

But regardless, I’m also looking forward to seeing what the VV chip will offer and how it performs.

It would make it less cryptic.

I got feedback from the supplier I used for preorder, will keep my preorder in place so I'll be on the early list for things being shipped. If there is a price change, I'll reach back to them (happy with a simple shop credit, as it's a supplier I use often).

I'm sticking with preorder. I expect it to be solid, whichever chip is in the final mod; from what I've heard, VV has been working on the chip for some time. Then again, I'm admittedly a VW/VV person, and I know good TC can be hard to get straight out of the gate.

The supplier I use has committed to refunding the difference if there is a price reduction, which is fine by me.

(The original Pulse BF also had a slip, when VV worked to update/correct a few things -- I was happy with the result.)

If you watch the Tony B video, he made a lot of claims against VooPoo that he claimed he could substantiate but chose not to. I'm not saying I would have deleted it, but I can certainly see why they did. If he didn't want to disclose the conversation by showing the emails, he shouldn't have disclosed the information by saying what was in them.

It's one thing to say the deal fell through, or even to say he felt like he was misled. He went further to accuse them of sabotage, and unfair trade practices, all while claiming to have proof he was above showing us but not above telling us about. I felt that it was in poor taste myself.

i went to few places, but none of them showing prices cut/drop ...... look like distributor doesnt agree with Vandy vape RRP ....

Remember, it's only been 1 week since the original news of things having gotten messed up.

Personally, I kind of expect to see both a price change and a little slip, to lock in the final engineering changes, updated manual and any packaging adjustment, get the chips in and assemble. Any difference in electronics form factor impacts how things get packed into the body.

The original pulse bf also had a slip in initial availability, a couple weeks IIRC, for fine tuning. The end result was worth the wait [emoji5]

I must of missed the drama. I was just about to post seeing it on 3fvape. I have to admit I am really interested in this mod regardless of chip. It would be my first squonker because I'm too timid to try a mech atm. I've been holding out on a purchase until I see what happens.

It sounds like the retail drop (MSRP) is still around $10, and they're pushing for mid April.

(If nominal list drops $10, preorder drop might reasonably be less, so the reseller still makes their margin.)

Tony is a Mac guy, so I’m hoping there will be Mac-compatible version of any update software. That could be a deal-killer for me.
