Hello fellow vapers!!

My husband and I have been vaping for a year and a half - we're both reonauts, although we started out with Ego's, etc. Very familiar with most set ups - and have become the "experts" in our area for recommending what new vapers should buy.

That being said, we've been approached by a friend who wants to buy one for her 86 year old grandmother. She's been having difficulty lately with bouts of respiratory issues, etc.

She wanted me to get her one like mine - and I'm thinking, no way grandma is going to be successful starting off with cartos/attys, juice, batts, etc - it's a lot to learn and I think she needs something quick, easy and to the point.

I never was one for the KR808 types, but honestly, that might be best as far as a low hassle system for grandma - along with prefilled cartos.

So, since I use neither (heck we make our own juice), can y'all recommend something along these lines that is *quality*, but *easy*?

Thanks so much!!!

I love SI Volt with their prefilled cartos. If someone is willing to help Grandma refill them, that would be a money saver.

I have several Volts and a bunch of cartos. Make sure Grandma knows to use a new carto reasonably often so she doesn't get discouraged by dry cartos:)

Easyto use and looks like a ciggie and plenty of sampers in all their flavors so it is easy to try them all.

I'm going to give my perspective as a several time great grandma (albeit not in my 80s) with very low vision and multiple serious health issues. I would never have quit my 3 PAD habit with prefilled carts/cigalikes. I tried them, and kept on buying smokes (despite my COPD) until I got a decent ego-type setup. As we get older and closer to the end we have LESS motivation to quit than younger people. Why should we be deprived, we're going anyway...those minis didn't feel real to me. She's may be more likely to be satisfied with something that gives a good throat hit etc. If Grandma is still smoking at 86 she isn't feeble or infirm. (or if she is, she has good help so same thing) She's still using a lighter, getting cigarettes, etc.. and she's probably completely capable of using something like a basic kgo kit such as the ones as hoosier ecig or even a vision spinner/twist with some clearos or vivi novas. It doesn't have to be complicated. I don't rebuild coils, and yes sometimes I miss a little filling the vivi nova- when I smoked I sometimes missed the ashtray and did fun stuff like burning holes in my sheets too.
Just food for thought- anyone still smoking at 86 is pretty hard core. My kids have made the mistake a time or two of underestimating me too. Btw, I use zmaxes now and I diy, after all it's no harder than making myself dinner.

Well I'm a great grandfather, and I have no problem at all using advanced vaping gear ... including a REO!
In fact I would venture to say that a Reo with a LR carto on it is probably one of the easiest to learn how to use.

But, like with anyone else, let her first find out if she will even like vaping before spending a lot of cash. There are plenty of -20$ kits she can try first.
    I suggest this one:

Thanks, y'all. Great perspectives. And thank you for assuring me age has little impact on vaping ability! Lol.... (Forgive me, but currently dealing with my father, who just had a significant stroke, and my mother, in early stages of Alzheimer's, so my perspective is a bit skewed right now). And really, my biggest hesitation for my friend's grandmother is mainly with messing with juice - and I can't see putting prefilled cartos on a Reo, lol (guess you could, but seems silly to me with juice on board). My personal experience with reg cartos and a reo was never good: Either juice squirted up the middle all over my tongue, or, the carto would be burnt. LR306 atty girl, here - and even that took a bit of a learning curve ;-)

I actually started with a Riva and dual coils, then a KGO, and *then* a Reo (finally got the REO a little over a year ago). I just remember fiddlling with cartos to the point of craziness - filling (use the condom, no let's use a syringe, no let's just drip down the side) and leaking and blowing out excess and twirling in a small bag and then vaping and then refilling and overfilling and underfilling and....being in a restaurant and trying to refill and blow out again....just seemed like I messed with the juice and carto more than I vaped. Maybe I'm just a bit OCD, too ;-)

Then, when I got my REO, I hated it the first month. It sat on the counter and every now and then I'd try it and get frustrated with the atty. When I finally hit my sweet spot though....never looked back - and felt like finally had freedom to enjoy vaping, instead of fiddling ;-) But had I started with that? I'd have never converted. So from my personal experience, I just didn't want there to be any "work" barrier to this lady on the get go (not that I think she couldn't move up to something better with time). But also couldn't recommend going to the gas station and buying a cheap disposable, either.

But y'all are right - and just because I had issues doesn't mean she will, and she's a pretty sprite southern lady ;-) Maybe I start her off with a basic EGO type and some cartos and juice, along with a few prefilled for those moments when fiddling isn't what she wants.

Suggestion. A couple ego twists or a very simple small vv PV and the best new clearomizer that really works. An Innokin Iclear 30. It's a dual coil clearo that holds 3 ml of juice with a screw off top for easy refills. It vapes great and wicks great without having to tilt and roll it. And I'm a die hard carto/tank guy who has hated all other clearos. This one just works. There's also an Iclear 16 same style but only hold 1.6ml of juice. They both work great.

How about some NJOY Kings? They're expensive, but she could trade convenience for price savings later if she wanted to. You can save a little by ordering a 10-pack. A "free" one is available for $2.99 shipping:

FREE Sample | NJOY King Electronic Cigarette | E-Cigs

I ordered the "free" one and later got an e-mail requesting me to fill out a short survey in exchange for a 25% discount on my next order. Still expensive, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I would have gone with the suggestion in post #2, so I'll let others talk equipment.
you don't say (or I missed it, I'm old too lol) if great grandma wants to try vaping. I suggest that if she resists, I would tell her to use it before smoking a real cig (she might skip the cig), use it where she can't smoke, etc. I've gotten a few "resisters" to try vaping with that suggestion and some converted completely on their own. but even if she won't completely give up cigs, count the ones she doesn't smoke instead of the ones she does!

Not always, but I use cartos on a reo with no problems at all. I like the short cartos better but the boge work fine on a reo.

Could try something like this- Holds 10 ml of liquid and a 1400 mah battery. It's rubberish and has a really big soft button and handle. Good if someone has vision issues.

Boge Revolution V2.1 Electronic Cigarette Kit

Or,if someone can fill up a bunch of cartos or tanks for her, an ego/kgo type pv with cartos or tanks.
