Just swap to a new coil, use it up, and transplant the o ring to the old coil afterward. In the meantime, soak the old coil in vodka or everclear to clean it, let it dry, then store it in a sandwich bag.

Do they clean up? I tried that with the Nautulis Minis and it didn't work so I have been saving them to rewick, but I've only pulled the old wicks out of a couple of them.

I think you get the gist of how to solve this dilemma!

BTW how did you "fry" it?

No kidding!? I just got my STM, and would rather not fry that. I thought I toasted my rba deck today... Built and wicked a new coil and forgot to put the cap piece ontop of the barrel... Fired it up and watched my tank fill with vape.

I rushed a recoil. Left a tiny bit protruding. It worked fine. But I swap coils if I'm going from custards to fruits so it was in my bag. Then the postie bought me a Stingray mech. It was my first one. The coil was a 0.9ohm. So I quickly slung it in the tank topped it up and fired it. The pin shorted I got a mouthful of ash and a hot battery in seconds.
The battery has been disposed of.
Lesson learned.

The OCC coils don't really clean up that well. Like any other sub ohm or high wattage head, the coils get gunked up and the wick gets shot in a couple or three weeks. Less if you use dark juices. That stuff tends to really stick around, and there's no good and easy way to clean that gunk off since the coil isn't exposed for easy access. Much easier to recoil and rewick them, honestly, and quite inexpensive.
