Study finds switching from cigarettes to e-cigs for two weeks sharply reduced arterial COHb, venous COHb and cotinine levels (with the latter indicating that switching to e-cigs reduces nicotine consumption by smokers), increased oxygen saturation and perceived improvements in health and lifestyle parameters.
Carboxyhaemoglobin levels, health and lifestyle perceptions in smokers converting from tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes | van Staden | South African Medical Journal
I sent this study (and my THR Update) to several hundred e-cig opponents who have falsely claimed "there's no evidence e-cigs are safer than cigarettes", but I suspect they'll keep denying the scientific evidence (as I've also sent them all other studies finding that e-cigs are less hazardous than cigarettes, as well as studies finding e-cigs help smokers quit and/or reduce cigarette consumption.
