I live in Niigata, and currently I smoke. I am heading to the the USA soon for a couple week visit. During that time, I was considering buying a VP and some nic juice to bring back with me. Will I have any difficulty getting back into Japan if I bring this with me? Also, are VPs allowed in your carry on bag? Thanks, and cheers! Looking forward to joining this community of vapers.

Ecigs are allowed on airplane carry on baggage but NOT allowed to be used/vaped on a plane..no more than 100ML (1 ounce) of eliquid per bottle is allowed and bottles must be placed in a ziplock bag..

regarding Japan Customs allowances I don't know but , try an google it or call Japan Customs yourself and ask, since you are already there..

Electronic cigarettes are allowed in Japan, provided they are nicotine-free. Anything that contains nicotine is subject to regulation as it is then classified as unlicensed medical products3. They can be bought in convenience stores, pharmacies, and local bookshops with zero nicotine juice. Nicotine-containing e-liquid have to import abroad

Japan - E-Cigarette Laws » Aussie-ECigarette-Reviews.com

read this too..

They also confirmed the limit on juice which contains nicotine is one month's personal supply, although customs has no idea what amount that would be since everyone is different..I had 230 ml of nic juice sitting in the box in front of me still unnoticed..

Personally I know of many people who buy online from China and have NO problems with liquids or any Ecig hardware being delivered to their homes in Japan....walking through Japan Customs may be more difficult..so pick your poison..

Konban Wa,

i never had any Problems with my Juice at the Customs
even when they controlled me, what they like to do,
they never spend any Attention for my Liquids.

But this means nothing,
when it is illegal you could hang in a Japanese Prison for a while.

The last Thing i know was that you are allowed to carry a One Month Supply with you.

I carry always a bit of Liquids "on Person" for the Flight
and no one ever told me it is not allowed
(JAL, ANA, Star Airlines, Thai, Finnair, Lufthansa)

The Battery of a eGo is coming with the same Size of Ammunition,
when it is in a Luggage they may look inside!
think about your Underpantsu
