To pull the trigger on a REO and my first rba. I have an invoice for an lp brass rm2 waiting to be paid for, and I have a list of items that I think I'll need for a successful first go.

I wanted to post the list of items I think I'll need here and hopefully have a more experienced REOnaut look it over for me.

LP Brass RM2 $55.50
1 x 2 post screws reomizer 2.0
$1.00

1 x Kanthal A1 resistance wire 28 gauge 3 ft
$1.25

1 x Reo grand repair kit
$25.00

1 x Magnets Metal Reos
$0.50

1 x Brass Button Covers
$6.00

1 x Black 510/901 drip tip
$2.00

1 x LP reo grand black anodized brass engraved
$166.00

7 Products
$201.75

Koh Gen Do Cotton
Hand Torch
Multimeter

Is there anything else you all think I need? Is there anything on this list that is unnecessary? Any feedback is much appreciated, thanks everybody :)

if this is your first rda, 30 gauge wire is easier to work with. 28 is also easy, but you'll have less frustration as a first timer with 30 or even 32. you can work up to thicker wire

i don't like button covers, especially with flat top batteries as they can bottom out before making good contact

extra springs are good and cheap, best to be overprepared

just my 2c anyway. are you going to patina that door?

I don't think you need the drip tip unless you just want an extra one. I'm pretty sure that the reomizer comes with the same black delrin drip tip you included in your order. The all brass LP rm2 on his site is only $53 also, you listed it as $55.50. The LP grand will come with one extra 6 ml bottle and a small vile of noalox. I'd order two more spare 6 ml bottles so that way once your bottle is empty, you can just switch it out with another that's already filled and keep vaping.

As mentioned the extra drip tip probably is not needed.

Ditch the upgrade/repair kit. The new 510 connectors will be out in a few weeks. You should not need to repair your new REO but might want to have the new connector installed at a later date.

O-rings are a good choice.

repeats mostly -
Except, I DO like the button cover.
Drip tip - meh, it comes with one.
O-Rings - yes! One UNDER the atty, right around the 510 connection, gives you a little play so you can attache the atty, and turn it so the airhole points away from your face...usually...
I don't torch anymore now that I'm building for my Reo - I build on an ohm-meter, and when it's good, I heat it on the Reo for squeezin...
I just got a spare spring - no magnets or repair kit, but having the backup is fine, too...

Enjoy!!!!!!!

Alright so definitely o-rings, 30 gauge kanthal instead of 28 since I'm a newbie, no torch, a spare spring or two, and no drip tip.
Is the repair kit still considered the upgrade kit, or do all reos already come 'upgraded'?

When you say patina the door, you mean scuff it up with something like steel wool to give it that unique, scuffed texture look, right? I may do that, but I might just let it get a natural patina over time from use.

I have some button top AW IMRs that I use in my provaris, so I'm not concerned about the button cover.

How far away are we talking for the new 510 connector? Should I just wait? Will upgrading the connection even be an option?

Also, the lp brass reomizer listed on the site for $53.00, is that an rm2 or just a reomizer?

They meant treat the door with chemicals (salt and ammonia or something???) to get these wild looks.
They come with the upgraded contacts.
The new 510 sounds pretty cool, you CAN upgrade later if you want or need to...
Wait or not wait? Up to you, but it's likely to be a month...maybe just start planning for your NEXT Reo, lol.
Reomizer = RM2. Same thing...
Oh, and Button Cover covers the REO's button - not the battery. The Reo button is small - the button cover makes it a little fatter...

A new from Reosmods will come with so/repair kit parts installed. It's good insurance to have a full kit, especially if you only have 1 Reo. What it comes down to is having replacement parts on hand and not having your mod out of service for a few days waiting for them to arrive.

I imagine that Rob is gonna be buried under a pile of Reo's to retrofit when he offer's it. So his turn around time on repairs might reflect that for a while. Just something to keep in mind if you are a person who Murphy's Law seems to favor.

Bare minimum is an extra spring, the kit is peace of mind knowing whatever happens you are only down the time it takes you to swap parts.

Welcome,
that sounds like a slick looking combo...

Maybe pick up an extra spring screw... or 3... I stripped mine the first time, because I didn't use the right screwdriver...

I built with 30g my first time, but after that 28g was easier for me...

Also, on the KGD cotton, if you can't find any for a reasonable price, like I couldn't, there is a brand that is almost identical called Cotton Labo Puff, which is sold on Amazon, but it takes a while to get here from japan. PM me for a sample.

Correct, the LP reomizer is the RM2 for the LP reo's...

The plain RM2 is milled to fit into the catch cup of the regular reo grands.

Trypno, if the AW batteries you plan on using are the 2000 mah ones, I would recommend getting the 1600 mah AW batteries instead. The 2000 mah ones have a 10 amp rating vs 24 amp for the 1600 mah AWs. The 1600 AWs will also give you better usable battery life because they will operate much longer above 3.7 volts.

Good eye, I forgot to mention that...

AW has recently released the 2200mah, 20amp continuous, as well. They are the best to use with REOs, IMO. I love mine. Last all day @ 0.5ohms....

I agree. They just became available in Australia so I now have 4 of them (2 for each Reo)

Oh baby, those look GOOD! If that's what adding a Patina is, then yes, I might just do that.
