I'm losing my freaking mind trying to figure out why it just suddenly stopped asking if it was a new tank and stays at .165 ohms no matter what tank I put on it! Even if all four tanks I've tried were the same resistance (which they are not), the possibility that they'd all read .165 ohms is slim to none! I know some mods have a resistance lock feature, and maybe this one does, but I have no clue how that works.

Sounds like either an electrical fault or something in your settings. Sorry, not really familiar with the mod. I guess the first thing I would do is pull the batteries, wait a bit, return them and see what happens. If that didn't work, I'd watch a couple you tube reviews to see if I had inadvertently entered some "preset" function, where you can just "call it up": and have everything "preset."

It's kind of what it sounds like to me, so I'd check out some reviews if your user manual is not being helpful about the situation (I have found my user manuals to often not be, especially with a Chinese manufacturer) although I will note that even some of the provari "user manuals" were a bit like being back in "Philosophy Logic class where all our statements had to be axioms, and we were basically doing math with words. Etc. Although, it is also where my "argumentative" skills were honed, so overall, super enjoyable in the end (much like absorbing a Provari manual). LOL.

Good luck!

Sorry y'all, I haven't been on here in a while, and for some reason I haven't been getting any notifications! But I did want to update everyone, and hopefully it'll help. I was trying 3 different tanks and none of them would cause the 'old or new' popup, the coils were from .15-.17 and it would just keep reading .165ohms. I contacted the company I bought it from and they were going to exchange it for me, but it took me about a week and a half to get around to it. The day I was going to the post office I decided to check it out one last time, but this time I had a .25ohm coil, and as soon as I attached the tank, the 'new or old' screen came up, I clicked new and it worked just fine. So I went back to my original 3 tanks and tested those again and sure enough, it just kept reading the same thing for all 3. My guess is that if the resistance is very close, it doesn't bother trying to read it, Idk, it seems weird to me, but it is what it is I guess. I like the mod, I have 2 of them and they both do it, so I guess it's just a Smok thing, but the guy at the vape shop says if it's not burning through coils or causing any issues, it really isn't a big deal... We'll see!

I have had an X-Priv since they first came out.

My amateur findings:
If the coil setup, whether subohm or rebuildable is fairly close, it won't always detect the change.

You can easily force this mod to detect a new resistance every time by firing it with no atomizer attached, getting the "no atomizer" message, and then putting the new one on.

Try it and tell me if it works please :)

I've found the solution, I had the same problem, and this fix aloud me to keep my mod.
Ok so here's how to fix it.
1) Attatch your tank to you mod
2) Press both your up and down keys to lock your Smok X-Priv
3) Hold either the up or down key only for about 10 to 20 seconds
4) There will show, you set Ohms,
for example my Valarine tank runs at 0.150 Ohms.
5) Right after you ohms shows up press up or down to get your desired ohms.
6) Unlock mod and do a 1 second fire. The ohms will change to what you had selected.
Let me know if the help.
Thanks

Hi Press fire button 5 times with No Atomizer to reset save resistance.

Thank you Michael!

Hello this does work but want to add to it because as someone else stated if the OHM's are close it does not change.

With tank attached lock you mod.
Hold the down wattage button for 5 to 10 seconds the OHM's will display.
I lowered mine to as low as they would go.
I unlocked my mod.
I held the fire button for a second the OHM's Change to my new low setting.
I then unscrewed the tank from the mod held the fire button for 2 seconds saying no atomizer.
I screwed the tank back on and press the fire button and voila it gave me the new and old tank selection screen with the proper OHM's

Thanks everyone for your help
