Hello!

So I have a smok Alien 220W mod and have three Samsung 25r greens. Is the mod good for balance charging? My third battery is used on a mech mod and will need to be charged. Unfortunately, I am too poor to afford a charger so I am using my box mod to charge instead. What I am going to do is take one of my batteries out of my Alien and replace it with the empty battery that is used on the mech mod. Is this safe?

For example: Battery A is at 80% and Battery B at 20%; balanced charging, good?

Thanks!

Such device is an in-series cells mod. I do not really know how such device operates but active cell balancing is rare and expensive, thus my bet is the device may use MOSFET controlled bleeding resistors to limit current flow in nearly topped out cells. This works well when cell imbalance is limited and/or charging current is low enough plus bleeding ratio high enough.
My advice is don't mix cells with very different states of charge/unloaded voltages. The device may take too long to balance out the cells, causing undue stress over the higher volted one.
A LiitoKala Lii-100 charger goes for even less than $4 in some retailers. No point in “stuffing the bumps” unnecessarily.

Cheers

I'd add that the two batteries you're using in your Smok Alien should be married (probably) - that means they need to be charged and discharged together. As soon as you charge one with with a battery that isn't the one it's married to, the pair is no longer married. Batteries instantly divorce when one has an affair.

My Alien came in a couple of days ago. Among many other batteries I have several married sets of two and three for various mods.

I also have four new Samsung 30Q's that I ordered recently. They've been used in sequential rotation for a couple of months in a Pico 75W. Since the Alien 220W has dual battery meter icons I decided to try the 30Q's in pairs to see how closely they performed.

I got 30 hours - 7 sleep hours out of the first round. The battery icons showed identical discharge rates. All the way through they were visibly equal, for what that's worth. When I charged them on my Xtar VC4, the Xtar showed a discharge level to 3.0V when I first inserted them and both jumped to 3.5v in the first 30 seconds. For me, that's pretty well matched. the final count on MAH was 2560ma and 2580ma on the two.

I won't have any concerns with using the 30Q's as rotatable pairs in the Alien.
