50 watts
Volts:2.8
Amps: 18
ohm: .15
using V8 baby T8 coils
batteries 2x efest IMR 18650 2500mAh 40A 3.7V - 5 months old

A couple days ago I noticed an absence in flavor in all of my juices and burning taste and harshness in the throat with a few. I haven't changed anything. Are my batteries bad? Is it possible that the values aren't reading correctly? I've changed out coils, ordered another tfv8 baby tank " the baby beast", same as I was using before but i needed a second anyway. I ordered some samsung 30Q 3000 mAh 15A 18650 batteries as I read they were popular with this model ( probably better quality as well).

It should all be from the coil. I've been reading a lot of problems with them.try a new coil prime well and break in with low watts.does not hurt to take a few pulls with no power to be sure its primed.also wash out tank if you get juice in air flow it can taste bad,at least in other styles I've used.

It won't be your batteries, but you have done the right thing to ditch the Efest.
Agreed. The Samsung 30Q will be a much better battery. Efests are always over-rated spec-wise.

Efest Purple 40A 2600mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...only a 20A battery
Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

Samsung 30Q 20A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Retest Results...a great 20A/3000mAh battery!

The issue is more than likely with your coils. Bad batch of coils (it happens)? Improper priming or wicking?

Well the new tfv8 baby tank i ordered ( same as what I'ved used the past 5 months) came with a v8 baby q2-core and that's just 2 coils stacks, i could see the cotton soaked with the amber-colored juice, so it is definitely well-primed. I'm using some marshmallow man, made by marina vape at a 6 nic , i've used the 3 before, and there is 0 flavor. With another juice ( probably a bit more viscous ) it burned like it was dry, even after sitting for an hour. I've been doing a lot of research trying to track down my problem. I am waiting to get my samsung batteries in, and to rule out all variables, I ordered a smok al85, considering that i probably won't venture into an rdta or ever need half of what this alien can do. I just can't figure it out. Some people said the cotton in the coils can be old ( i started noticing it in a different 5-pack box from smok) , but between the Q2 ( 40-80w, .4 ohm) and the T8 core quad ( just like my 5 packs) that came with this tfv8 baby, there was no flavor, but thick and rich vapor.

Ignore the range recommended for the coil. Just make sure your coil is primed, and start with a low wattage. About 20 Watts is good. Then work the power up a bit at a time until it tastes good.

Then close off the airflow about half, and turn the wattage down again and start back up in power. If it warns you with a burning sensation, back it down and ta da...sweet spot.

You will probably find that with slightly reduced airflow and power, flavor gets a lot better. Massive clouds are cool and all, but there's no way any mortal has enough taste buds or neural pathways to "taste" that much vapor.

Yeah i always have my vent at about half to 30%. The flavors are all off, like something drastic changed recently. Going 10w below whats rated all the way up to max recommended at 5w or so intervals, it's like day and night from what I was tasting a week ago. The only juice i have now that i can compare is the marshmallow man at 6, which is usually really sweet going out, or was with the 3 nic I had a few months ago. I can't help but think there's something else at play here.

I'd say vapor's tongue or something, but that doesn't really explain the burning sensation (unless you are overvavping or too high wattage in an attempt to get flavor). I'd have to agree that it MIGHT be the coil, maybe try vaping some unflavored and see if that burning sensation reoccurs?

Good luck,

Anna

There isn't any burning with the marshmallow man, but certainly no flavor, i experienced burning on a few different atomizers ( t8 quad) which may be something of this " bad batch" possibility, yet i'm currently using one that came with my new tank. These coils usually last me about 1500-2000 puffs depending on the juice. I was about 800 in when i adding a new juice and starting experiencing this burn. Then switching back to the old juice and new coils, just error over and over.

wish we could solve your problem but I can try and make you better informed.juice is made up of vg and pg,the more vg the thicker the juice.thicker juice does not wick as well and your cotton can dry out due to lack of juice.also vapor tongue was mentioned, that would entail no flavor but vapor with no burnt taste.hope I made a little sense.

Welcome and glad you joined.
"burn" can be caused by many factors, below may help identify.

I had a mod and tank once that kept shorting out my coil. It had something to do with the connection, as if the tanks 510 pin was pushing the mods pin in too far . What seemed to have happened, was because the 510 pin on the mod was depressing so far, it was pushing excessive power into the tank or somehow shorting the coil....once I put that tank onto another mod it was fine, and when I used a different tank on that mod it was fine...have you tried a different tank with said mod? And a different mod with said tank? Just a thought, at least it's a way to definitely narrow it down to the coil being bad perhaps
