A clone SMOK? I’ve seen all kinds of electronics problems about SMOK stuff posted here. Far more than any other manufacturer. They run the gamut. Most of em are variations on “my device stopped working after a month or two”. There was another one on that very model just today.
how old is the device? I’ve been assuming SMOK aliens I see lately are all old.
We may not see a large number of cloned Smok in North America, but they are manufactured on a large scale and many of extremely poor quality. If I find the article, I will post it, but cloning Smok is such a problem, Smok has joined with Chinese authorities to create a task force to try and eradicate cloners.
@polemik – the electronics involved when dealing with these batteries requires a certain level of precision and quality. A failure here can be quite catastrophic. Given you have a clone, do you know who manufactured it, and if so, can you count on them for support or warranty? Also, are your batteries authentic or are they also clones?
If a device can not read the batteries correctly then there is obviously something wrong. To what extent and how much risk that may pose is difficult to answer. Personally, I would not trust the device and cease operation immediately.
