Some misinformed person in charge of making the rules at my work recently heard about "smart vapes" and thought that meant they were somehow able to be used to capture data or screenshots from our work computers and made the decision there will be no vapes on the floor. I work in a federally contracted call center and I understand the need to protect privacy but I think this is a stretch. Am I wrong in thinking it's a load of hooey or is there some newfangled tech I'm not aware of? Either way, there's no challenging this rule, unfortunately. It's getting so 1984 these days it seems.

That's something only a bureaucrat could believe. The amazing thing is that vaping was previously allowed in 2024.
Starting in January, in Kentucky, all of if it will be gone. I'll start using the ncotine pouches exclusively at work and make my own vape at home.

The FDA is going after "Smart Vapes".

“These products may resemble smart devices, but there’s nothing smart about them,” said Brian King, Ph.D., M.P.H., director of FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. “They’re illegal to sell and a flagrant attempt to target kids.”
