Hi guys

Trying to blend some shortfill e-liquid properly. I have:
1) 100ml of shortfill liquid (Yogg Moz). 0% nic.
2) 100mg/ml liquid nic with base ratio 75:25 VG:pG
3) PG
4) VG

I would like to turn the 0% 100ml of shortfill liquid into 3% 120ml of 70:30 VG:pG juice.

What amounts of the above do I need to mix??

Trying to use vape Tool app to do this but can't work out how to input data correctly.

Thanks

It's ejuice that sold in 0% nic format.

It's designed so that u add 18mg/ml nicotine shots to make the juice equivalent to a standard eg 3% liquid.

I believe its a way of manufacturers and shops getting around EU regulations that prevent bottles of ejuice larger than 10ml being sold if they contain any amount of nicotine.

You need to clarify a couple things:
a) whats the vg/pg ratio of the shortfill?
b) you probably mean 3mg/ml and not 3% (very different)

Assuming the shortfill is 100ml of 70:30 VG/PG and you really want 120ml of 3mg/ml then:
1) add 3.6ml of 100mg/ml nicotine
2) add 4.4ml of PG
3) add 12ml of VG

Might like this calculator:
ADD nic to X ml.

You have: 100ml, 0mg nic.
You want: 120ml, 360mg nic (120ml * 3mg/per)*
You add: 3.6ml nic solution (360mg / 100mg/ml)

You now have: 103.6ml, 360mg nic.
You want: 120ml, 360mg nic.
You add: 16.4ml PG/VG

You now have: 120ml, 360mg nic, for 3mg/ml total concentration.

*(I'm assuming you meant 3mg/ml [.3%] and not actually 3%. If you really want 3% [30mg/ml] then that's 3600mg nicotine -- or 36ml of 100mg/ml nic base -- in 120ml, meaning you'd need to start with less than 100ml of the zero-nic vendor juice to hit your target 120ml.)

Need to know the VG/PG ratio of this one though, to input into the calculator.
Yeah so I've been in touch with the retailer. What they said is that if I were to add 20ml of 18mg/ml nic (I believe 100% PG), the result would be 120ml of ejuice in the original format as intended (ie 70:30 vg:pg).

Presuming that information to be correct, I guess could reverse calc to work out what the vgpg ratio is in shortfill format?

But Im not so sure cos the person speaking didn't sound so confident.

I think for this first bottle I'm gonna keep it simple and presume it's 70:30 in shortfill format and follow advise as mentioned in this group.

If it turns out too thin, I'll make sure to recalculate accordingly on the next shortfill bottle.

Great, thanks.

Yes I did mean 0.3% not 3%! Lol

Based on everyone's advise and the calculator links provided, I've gone ahead and blended the shortfill to create a 120ml batch @0.3% nic.

Regarding vg:pg ratio, I delved a bit more into the yogg juices and realised this. It's actually normally a 60:40 product. However in shortfill format, the ratio of the liquid in the bottle is 70:30. I guess this is to allow for adding premade nic shots (which are typically 18mg/ml, 100% PG) which would then result in a final ratio closer to 60:40.

Personally I'm not a fan of 'high' PG juices, preferring at least 70:30 ratios. So I stuck to the calcs as provided earlier in this chat (4.4ml PG, 12ml VG) to get a final 70:30 @0.3%. Decent clouds, flavour not muted.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

What is shortfill liquid?
Below is an extract from here Tobacco Products Directive - Wikipedia

"The enactment and implementation of the new directive will work to restrict the capacity of e-cigarette refill tanks to no more than 2ml and a maximum volume of e-liquids containing nicotine for sale for one refill container to 10 ml."

So selling shortfills is a way around that inconvenience.
