Okay, so I've looked everywhere, but nobody seems to have experienced this.

I've been using a simple Green Smart Living ecig for about four months now, love it, no problems, have no interest in switching brands or to liquid or anything.

However, quite randomly and with no cause, my battery started acting weird. I went to take a puff, and nothing came out. It wasn't blinking or anything, so the battery isn't dead. (I just charged it, too.) So I took out the cartridge and shook it a bit, then put it back in, but this time the light turned on and stayed on as if it was charging.

I messed around a bit, trying to see if I put it in the charger anything would happen, but it doesn't even light. I've changed cartridges, and it still lights up and stays lit.

I am becoming frantic. Sadly, this stupid little thing is my best friend, and I am running (way) low on cash and don't want to buy a new one unless I have to. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to salvage my good friend Smokey???

Help would be much appreciated!!

Hi CrimsonSadie
welcome.gif
Have you only got the single battery?
How long have you been using this battery?
I can't imagine they're made to last and last. You certainly paid a lot money for this.

If you prefer a cig-a-like I recommend you get a Smokeless Image Volt (Auto Battery) or a Halo Bloog.
Both will cost you less in the long run and both have excellent customer reviews as well as being ECF Suppliers.
I would also recommend you got a couple so you always have a back up.
Best of luck.

I don't have any experience with the specific brand, but when I was on automatic batteries, it seems like the switch would tend to get stuck sometimes. A couple hard blows into each end of the battery seemed to help for a bit. I'm a little surprised you got 4 months out of it without seeing that though. (maybe my cheapo carts leaked more)

I know you're not interested in upgrading, but you may want to consider a battery with a button on it.

You could try "pulling your post", a term that seems to be funny to English speaking people. When you look at the battery, at the part you screw the cartomizer on, you'll see a central post. Sometimes this post gets pushed a little into the battery, thereby losing contact with the carto. With a pair of tweezers or some other pointy tool you can usually pull this up a little, restoring the contact. I'm not sure if this will work with your GreenSmart battery, I don't know what general type it is. Good luck.

4 months on a one battery? Not sure on your usage but batteries don't last forever, I would suggest eventually getting at least two replacements even if that one hasn't died yet.

I wouldn't even trust name brand ecig batteries that long, several joyetech ego's I have had died in less than 3 months in spite of the ones that have lasted longer then 6 months. My personal rule for vaping, always have a backup... and a backup for that backup.

You get around 200 charges on a battery, give or take. If you charge it 2x a day, 4 months is about it.

If it's working for you and you quit smoking using it and love it, invest in a couple more batteries. Just keep them clean and recharge them before they're dead so they don't go through a complete charge cycle.

If you think you'll be vaping long term, as other members suggested, there are probably more cost effective ways to do that.

Meli, I know, and I agree, but she said

...love it, no problems, have no interest in switching brands or to liquid or anything...

Therefor my suggestion.

I have a friend that was in that position too. A kit that was a little overpriced, but loved the taste of the liquid in the cartos that didn't fit anything else. It's easy to switch when you don't like something. Harder when you do.

Thanks everyone for your help. Luckily, my roommate has the same one but hasn't really liked it so far and remains smoking "Real Cigarettes."

I think I'm going to be stopping by the local tobacco store and seeing what kind of things they recommend, as well as looking into the suggestions posted here.

The grieving stage is almost over... But I will find a better replacement. ;)

I use Green Smart Living too. I have regular vaping gear, but I keep the cig-a-likes around too (I find they're great if I'm really craving a cigarette and want the harsh taste). The batteries don't last that long. I think one of mine died at about 3 months and I didn't use it very much. It wasn't dead dead, it still lit up, but didn't seem to have enough power to run the cartridge; sort of like what you described. Compared to better gear you can get, they are a bit pricey, but I like the convenience of buying them at my local liquor store, if I'm in a jam. They have 510 threading too! They don't have much power, but look cute with a black 510 atty on them. ;)

Had the same problem. Light just stayed on, wouldn't work anymore.. thats actually how I found this site and I'm glad I did! and at least they're only $20 for a new starter pack!
I think its worth it for the quality of vapor and availability (they sell GSL across the street from my apt).
I'm down to 5 analogs a week of less and not looking back :)

Thank god for this forum =P I was starting to check out alternatives after my greensmartliving ciggie died. I guess it isn't that unique a problem, but I'm still pretty new to e-cigs. I'm kind of surprised about the life of the green cig tho. I only charged it about once every two days and I brought it everywhere with me. The thing lasted for over 12 months before it finally stopped vaporizing and I was even hairbrained enough to lose it in the washing machine lol and that was about 2 months before it died.

I admit I've been pretty happy with greensmartliving and the cig prices. The only other e-cigs I have been exposed to are the commercials for Blu and some very disreputable company that began hounding me ON THE PHONE to buy their brand after nothing more than a visit to their website (I never even gave them any personal information!!!). Honestly, both of those brands were exorbitantly expensive. I'd like to find something better and/or cheaper, but I'm really not sure what to trust =/

we used the greensmartliving, so i do have experience with this. your battery sounds dead. always have at least 2 of these, as they dont give you warning as to when it would happen. we kept 4 batteries on hand charged because hubby and i were both using them.....btw, you can save a lot of money by refilling them yourself....so you may not want to throw out your used carts....if you are happy with what you are using, fine...if not, there are many other options....a couple of months of recharging is all you can expect from these batteries.

Hey thanks for the welcome guys, I've just been looking through the threads and such before I bother to open a new one =P Ten year smoker here, on and off (I've managed to quit a few times the old ways, cold turkey, the patch, etc.). E-cigs have been the first thing to really keep me away from real cigarettes, so I've really grown attached to it =) I've been looking around and getting information, about to visit my first real vape shop later today to see what they've got. Wish me luck!
