Greetings Fine Folk. I haven't been around in ages since REOmods Forum closed. I'm living in Mexico, now, that has made vaping products illegal to import and sales, although that is loosely enforced. So, after seven years I finally found an online supplier, actually located in McAllen Texas, right across the borde, that does ship to Mexico, for DIY supplies. I made my own juice while living in US until I moved to Mexico in 2017.
I mixed freebase from 2011 to 2017 so I have that one down.
I now have a couple of Eco Nano systems with the refillable pods. Supplies for many things run out at Mexican suppliers and it can be months before restocking or never restocking. The Eco Nano pods are few and far between. Most suppliers have none in stock, I purchased the last one at one place and the place I just ordered some has only 17 single pods left in stock. So I have to take the best care of the pods with longest lifespan possible.
It is my understanding they do best with Nic Salts. There are few flavors I can vape. Out of three I ordered only one I can really enjoy.
So I need to DIY Salts.
For all calculators I have seen there is no place to input Salts. Someone said to substitute the Salts where you would input, into calculator, the concentrated Nic juice.
I have coming 0mg nic Salts. (It will be a while before I can order more) (I ordered thinking I would only use it to help cut down flavor and nic level for the two Salts I really don't like. Part of not liking is the flavorants in those two. They irritate my throat. The third one I do like is milder flavor and irritates much less. I am a chain vapor of freebase, btw, in my mods, but use low wattage and only 3mg of pastry type, sweet juices..
So help please. I have or will be delivered in two days, the following supplies:
36mg 30PG/70Vg Concentrate Nic
PG, (which is extremely difficult to source here)
VG
Omg Salt
Caramel y Butterscotch flavorants
Goal is about 20mg Salt
It is my understanding that Salts are typically 50/50 PG/VG ratio.(Again I need to use a salt that gives the longest use of the Eco Nano Pods)
Where do I plug in each of the ingredients in a standard calculator, please?
This Feisty Old Broad will be eternally grateful.
Many many thanks.
BTW, any of my REOsmods peeps still around?

Hi and welcome back,

I don´t believe that 0mg/ml salts can possibly exist.

IMO, Just mix like normal to your target mg/ml level and PG/VG ratio.
Cheers

Thanks, Here is part of my order. They offer 0%, 1.5%, 2%, 3.5%, and 5% Nic Salts. Here's the thing, when you say "Just mix like normal to your target mg/ml level and PG/VG ratio.", where would you plug in Salts, no matter the nic level in the calculator. Again, where do you plug in Salts in the calculator? Or to be more clear, how does one even DIY salts? Is it perhaps the salts already have all of the the PG and VG in them needed? If that is so would I just put Salts into which box? Also, I have read that Salts, "ready to vape" are typically 50/50 PG/VG. Am I right in assuming that prepared Salt juice, is mainly just a tiny portion of Concentrate Salt and mostly VG/PG?
Let's say I want to DIY Salt juice and have the Salt that I purchase unflavored so I can add my own flavorant. Specifically how would I use the calculator.
Let's say the Unflavored Salt is 3% nic that I purchase. Is it that the Salt nic is ready to vape needing only the addition of flavorant? So how would I plug that into the calculator and what other entries does there need to be?
Appreciate help. I ordered the unflavored 0% nic to add to my purchased flavored Salts to basically cut down the flavor but also lower the nic a bit. But then I thought, why not make my own. Perhaps "making my own" is just a matter of ordering the unflavored Salt in whatever finished nic level it come with and adding only flavorant. So how would I use the calculator for that, please?
Muchas gracias BTW $580 pesos, is $28.18 USD, at todays rate.

"Nicotine salts (nic salts) are manufactured with the usage of nicotine and different types of acids. Nicotine salts, depending on the acid they are made with, may have the form of a liquid or nicotine powder"

Zero(0) mg/ml or 0% "salt¨ (or "freebase") is simply PG and or VG.

NO Nicotine = NO salt.

Thanks, Then I wonder why they sell it as Salts. It is my understanding they make Salts by mixing an acid to the PGVG base that basically only lowers the PH. Why would you necessarily need nicotine, then if all salts are are lowered PH?
I think the best thing to do is order unflavored Nic Salts in double the % of nicotine I want in finished Salt and then mix that with the 0 nic salts and flavorant. In the meantime I'll use the 0% to cut the purchased Salts I have where mostly it is the favorant that is making me cough and be okay with a little reduction of nic %. I have three nic Salts and all the same % nic; two make my throat sensitive and one is not as bad.
I'll use the concentrated nic juice (not salt) to just make freebase.

There is no good reason to overcomplicate mixing. If you want zero nic save your money and order a bottle of vg and a bottle pg. You are over thinking mixing.
Thanks, But why are salts recommended for a lot of pods? Is it only the recommended VG/PG percentage. Over and over I see recommended for most pod systems to use Salts. Because vaping products are difficult to source here in Mexico, and very few suppliers even have the pods for my Ecco Nano I need to do what ever I can to extend the life of my pods. If lowering the PH via the benzoic acid is better for the longevity of the coils then I need to do that. I initially ordered the 0 salts to lower the flavor and nic in my purchased flavored nic Salts. But I do have a need to make my own Salts. I DIYed freebase for many years before moving to Mexico because I can't tolerate most of the flavors in purchased juices. I started purchasing ready juice in 2017 when I moved to Mexico because I could not locate any supplies.
Sure I can order flavorless nic salts with various percentages of nicotine (now that I finally found a source for DIY) but in the meantime I have a bunch of 0% flavorless salts that will take ages to use up if only using a tiny bit to cut the purchased flavored nic salts.
I know it is hard to imagine living where vaping products, sales and imports, are technically against federal law. But the reality, here, is sourcing many things is difficult, and most suppliers are having fewer and fewer products available since the law went into affect.
It has taken me seven years to find any supplier for DIY vape juice in Mexico; seven years! Bringing products through customs is hit or miss if they will seize and if they will impose fines. So asking friends to mule down illegal items I won't ask a friend to do. It can be annoying to scary enough just getting through customs even if you don't have any illegal contraband.

Salts are recommend due to the harshness of freebase nic, salts are simply smoother. Most pods are used at a higher nic mg. If you are using lower nic than either or should be fine. My point is just buying vg/ pg will be cheaper in the long run. If you want th just try either freebase or salts with th added.
