I think it's safe enough to lock your resistance in wattage mode, if you so desire. The firmware upgrade might be an even better choice, but basically, every time you are telling the coil it's "not" new, it goes back to the former resistance anyway, so it's kind of six of one half a dozen of the other, etc. Probably be easier to lock it (if that's an option) or do a firmware upgrade. But there isn't going to be a huge safety issue in locking a VW coil in a VW setup, IMO.

You should not need to lock the resistance in wattage mode. Either the device is sensing a change in reistance due to a bad connection or the mod has a poorly programmed chip.
Before you 'upgrade' - which sounds more like a glitch fix than an improvement - you should do as Storm52 says and check your coil, attie and positive contact pin on the mod.

Oh ok I’ll try it out when it thinks it’s a new atomizer it would jump from .15 to .23 ohms don’t wanna burn the atomizer lol I upgraded the firmware awhile ago after that the glitch started happening
did it do only 1 firmware version? i know thaley have like 7 to 10 overall version updates but maybe it uipdated toan other and not most recent but its an idea i yhouught could maybe be a factor

Locking the resistance in VW mode is counter intuitive... the only reason i could think would be if the mod was poorly programmed.
VW works by the mod reading the atomiser resistance and auto adjusting the voltage output to achieve a set wattage. If the actual resistance changes (loose screw, damaged coil etc) but the mod is locked to a set resistance the wattage would / could be way out from what the device thinks it is...
