I’ve used the original Nautilus Minis as the mainstay of my vaping for nearly 10 years now and they are still going just fine, so it came as rather a shock to my aged system after I broke one, to find them now listed as “out of production” earlier this year.

OK I’ve still got 13 of them, including the first two I ever bought. and they’re still going strong and I’ve near enough 10 years worth of coils for them, but we live in uncertain times - there is a growing tide of opinion against vaping, a vape tax is going to hit us next year in the UK, and the China/US tariff wars could cause a shortage of supplies even here - so once again it’s Stocking Up Time.

I’d tried a Nautilus 3 about a year ago, but found at that stage it didn’t do it for me, so I set about acquiring a Nautilus GT.

Now, IMHO the GT is an ugly looking brute with its dustbin (“ trash can,” across the pond) or garden incinerator styling, has “pass me the magnifying glass” air control holes, and a fiddly top filling system, until you get used to it.

I also found that some of my Innokin mods would not accept that there was a GT onboard even though the 510 pin on the tank protruded every bit as much as on an original Nautilus Mini.

All that said, once I got the hang of the thing, set the airflow fine, and replaced the sub ohm coil with a 1.6 Ohm it produced a very satisfying flavoursome vape with my usual 16 strength menthol chill juice firing at 8 Watts.

So much so that I decided to buy another three GTs which I managed after working my way through quite a lot of sites, which again featured the dreaded words “Out of Stock, “ Discontinued” or “Out of production.”

The GT is a heavy tank so it can be knocked over quite easily if mounted on a smaller mod like an iStick 30w. Many comments on forums various say it’s prone to leaking after filling, but I’ve always had the habit of holding any top filled tank tip downwards after filling and closing for a moment, so that may be why I haven’t had that problem.

As I wanted another full set of Nautilus tanks I decided to give the Nautilus 3 another chance.

The UK is still within the TPD rules and the big problem I found the last time I tried a 3 was its liquid capacity. As sold the tank” glass” ( actually plastic ) is inordinately thick walled and you cannot get even 2 mils into it, so you seem to be constantly refilling the thing,

However I found a seller offering “Fat Boy” replacement glasses as well as tanks, which I fitted to the two tanks I’d bought, and changed the coils to 1.6 ohm s before even trying vaping them, and I have to say my impressions of it last year have been proven to be wrong.

Again it took me a wee while before I got an air flow setting I liked, but once I’d got that sorted I can honestly say it’s suiting me fine as an MTL vape.

Like the GT it’s a heavy tank, and has the garden incinerator styling, though more elegantly done than the GT - so the two I have so far have earned their Right of Residence with me and I’ll get a third one next payday.

Ever tried any of the various Innokin Z-coil tanks? My first tank I was made to choose between a Zlide and a Nautilus as if they were the only options in the world and I went almost blindly with the former and found it perfect, its hit sealed the deal on ever craving the old smokes.
Though I've moved on rebuildables I still use it once a year or so, and also bought one of the more recent tanks and occasionally append a coil set to an order.
The picture made me wish I'd kept my Pico...

I recommend the Nautilus 3 every day to people coming from pods, trying to quit smoking, or just needing something quick because they don’t have time for rebuildables. Also, in case you didn’t know, Vaptio Cosmo coils are also compatible with the Nautilus 3, in case you can't find the Aspire ones.

    Cosmo C1: 1.6Ω (10–15W) – Vertical Kanthal coil
    Cosmo C1S: 1.6Ω (7–12W) – Kanthal mesh coil
    Cosmo C2: 0.7Ω (15–23W) – Vertical Kanthal coil
    Cosmo C3: 1.2Ω (9–15W) – Vertical Kanthal coil
    Cosmo C4: 0.7Ω (10–20W) – Mesh coil
    Cosmo C5: 1.0Ω (8–13W) – Mesh coil
    Cosmo C6: 0.7Ω (15–25W) – Mesh coil
    Cosmo C8: 0.4Ω (24–32W) – Mesh coil

German ebay found most parts I think, unless this isn't the right Nautilus.
    Results

    including
    3 tank variants
    Just metal tank
    polysulfone tank

I mean, in case, since the work around seems to be all good.

It's good you've posted the resutls of your experiment or people to find. Replanting coils in other tanks isn't exactly common practice.

I didn't know that - many thanks. I'm well stocked up with Nautilus coils - 180 at the last count. Using clear menthol liquid, I usually get at least 6 weeks out of a coil, but I only use 8 watts. I'm 75 and reckon this stash of Nautilus coils should see me out. I also have, shall we say, "quite a few boxes" of Z Coils for my back up tanks.

Again many thanks for the info. I see that like many continental firms the seller doesn't post to the UK. This could either be because Aspire has its own main office in the UK and may have imposed restrictions on imports ( back in the Fasttech days they wouldn't suppy certain makes of tanks and mods here either) or simply due to the extra work involved post Brexit.

I must admit to being a bit of a stick in the mud - once I find things that work for me I tend to stay with them. The name Falconeer comes from the fact that I smoked Falcon System pipes exclusively from 1974 until 2015 when I switched to vaping.

When I started vaping and found that I needed better kit, I was living in Spain and the Vape Shop in Fuengirola suggested an iStick30w coupled either with a GS Air tank or a Nautilus Mini - both being the latest greatest things of the time. The Nautilus appealed to me and I've kept them on since.

When the Zenith came out and was receiving high praise from all round I did buy 3 "just in case" and later on three Zlides, all of which I still have and use from time to time for a change, but I do still prefer the works of Aspire - but that's just me! I'm well stocked up with Z coils too!

Understandable. I'm so glad to have found and soon ordering the same 5 year-old mtl rta and only one I've used. Though I'd be open to something new if I knew ahead it would be good. Then again, my standard for good is always whether it is similar to that previous thing I like.

FYI, these were mentioned in the Shinyitis, not sure where they can ship though

Wow so good to know I can use the Cosmos in a pinch

As far as coils for the Nautilus GT...if anyone is having trouble finding the Nautilus/Nautilus Mini BVC coils...these other Nautilus series coils are compatible with it too: the Nautilus 2/2S restricted DTL and Meshed coils, and the Nautilus AIO coils. The Aspire Triton Mini coils are, too!
