I have read plenty of vaping boards but never posted in the past because I do not have the time to keep up. This time is different because I feel compelled to post due to a very recent horrible reaction from vaping.

Me: I have been vaping for ~2 years. I'm not a newbie at all. I gave up smoking all together over 5 years ago, however I like to vape. My e-cig is a Tornado tank, and the juice is TW's Red Label 36mg nic/Marlboro flavor. I have used the Tornado for a long time, and this juice for at least a year. Some days I vape a lot, others barely at all, and occassionally not at all.

About 3 weeks ago I developed a very pronounced post nasal drip. I though I was coming down with the flu or like. Within a day or two, the post nasal drip became very thick, and it made swallowing difficult. At the same time, I started getting dizziness, blurred reality, and my heart would race. So, I went to my doctor. She said the mucus is not coming from my sinuses, and that I better get to an ENT to figure out what's going on. It took a couple days to see an ENT, I was symptomatic during this entire time. I did vape for about an hour (total) each day, and hadn't put it together yet.

Obviously, I was freaking out by this point. I told the ENT about my symptoms, and he immediately said well your esophagus is ...... off, and to make matters worse, it is upsetting your vagus nerve. That nerve is what would cause all of the dizziness, blurred reality, etc. Plus, you do not have any infection. He sent me down to do a barium swallow to confirm. The barium swallow did confirm the esophagus was not happy.

At this point, I immediately stopped vaping since now I strongly suspected it as the source of my trouble. About 2 days later, my symptoms started to slowly go away.

I did condense the story, since personally I hate reading very long stories. Somehow, vaping really upset my GI system to a point that got really scary. Before anyone thinks it, no I didn't swallow juice, or did anything else out of the ordinary.

The only think that I can think of is that somehow the last bottle of juice was tainted. I don't know. I'd like to hear if anything remotely close to this has happened to others.

Cranial nerve X, aka the Vagus nerve is the most important nerve in your body, without it, you would shut down and die right away. It's also a wonderful catch all for people needing something to blame. In regards to vaping and sensory/motor nerve function, seeking the assistance of a physician and doing more research is needed.

No, but as someone with a medical background, stating "vagus" nerve as being "upset" is lazy medicine.

Also, an EMT is not even close to being qualified to discussing nervous system disorders with a patient. NEVER.

Lastly, your douche like answer really makes people want to help you more. Just saying. If you come to an internet forum seeking advice, even if it's not what you want to hear, at least have some respect, and a little bit of dignity.

Have a great weekend.

It's an unexpected allergic reaction. Yes I understand that you have been using the same flavor for over a year, but it can happen. Possibly the liquid, was manufactured, differently from before, possible liquid flavor contamination(it could only be a little drop, but that is enough. Just think of people who are allergic to shellfish, iodine, peanuts will all there warning labels).etc..... Luckily you caught it now cause it may have lead to anaphylactic shock(worse case scenario).
Try vaping with same bottle liquid again. If the systems occur, immediately take Clariton, Zyertex, or Benedryl to see if alleviates your symptoms, if they do, then you are allergic to something in it. I recommend seeing a allergy specialist and getting a allergy workup.

Hope this helps

the juice is TW's Red Label 36mg nic/Marlboro flavor.

That's a REALLY high nic level. It's possible that it affected you in this way, but it's hard to say because you've likely been getting blood nicotine levels above what have been studied scientifically in humans.

Did you smoke or chew for any length of time? Esophageal cancer is commonly associated with tobacco products and could possibly explain your symptoms.

Just a heads up: your response to bornagainst could be considered a flame. I see you're new on the forums. To avoid trouble from the moderators, I suggest you read the forum rules: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/announcements-rules/51178-forum-rules.html

I'm really sorry to read about your health condition. Very scary!

I've read a lot of posts in the health section and in the new members forum about problems and there does seem to be an acid reflux theme, not saying that was your problem, just wondering if it's possible that quitting smoking and/or vaping tends to cause issues like that. Acid reflux and esophageal spasms seem to start hitting people in their 40's too - I know several people who've gone to the ER thinking they were having heart issues (smokers and non-smokers).

Maybe the juice had some sort of contamination. In the DIY section here, there is a post that describes how to test nicotine strength, as maybe it was stronger?

Follow-up: I do not have GERD or reflux while vaping or not. This was confirmed by a few of the various docs I've seen over the years. The symptoms did not match nic poisoning at all. Nic only has a half-life of ~2 hours. I should have cleared up a hellva a lot quicker than I did.

One thing that I should have mentioned is that I am in very good shape. So, this was a shock.

I did think of a PG allergy, but I'm not buying it. I probably will test this in the future, though. I'm thinking more along the lines of something was different in the flavoring.
