Evening all-

Intrigued to say the least. I have been reviewing the e-cigs for a couple of weeks now. Here is my story. I smoked for about 8 years (15 +/- a day). I quit 8 years ago but have been smoking cigars like swishers every couple of days (ie one mini-cigar). In mind I know I am smoking..smoking is smoking. Albeit it's not much, but it's still smoking nonetheless.

I wonder if an e-cig will cause me to smoke more, increase nicotine usage in general or help me curb / cut down the last night trips outside to smoke a cigar. Fact is, I don't really have a true intention quitting a cigar a week (again, a small one) as I do like to smoke in general.

Should I fear the accessible nature of the e-cig? This is one side of the arguement I hear from those who want to chop down the e-cig. It will lure me back into smoking they think. It might?

Second question - There is a smokeanywhere mini cig for sale (new) for $50. I have head tons and tons of negative reviews so I am likely staying away from it. Back me up on this... I am better looking for a 901b?

I would prefer to have a cig that looks like an analog but in the end, don't really care as it won't be out in public, it will just be hit and miss around the house.

My last reservation is the purity and ultimate safety of the nicotine liquids. How can I be certain the substance is correct and accurate dosage?

Maybe I should just chew nic gum?

Looking for advice. THanks

Hi, and welcome.

I'd say if you like swishers and such, a Pen-style would be perfect for you. If you find that you are using it more often than you'd like you can switch to a less concentrated liquid or cut the one you have with glycerine.

If you are concerned about the liquids, go with a reputable supplier. My fave is Totally Wicked. They ship with child proof caps, have toxicology reports, list ingredients, and generally make you feel as safe as you can be.

[edit] You can also use nicotine free solutions to vape more often without worrying about increasing your dependence. Save your "loaded" juice for the times you'd have your cigar now.

welcome bman

all of your questions are VERY valid concerns...

as far as "smoking" more... not all.. but most new users find that thier nicotine intake increases when they first start... then slowly they try to reduce it.. it's the nature of the beast... the easiest way to let the ecig "replace" analogs seems to be to make it more attractive to yourself..

right NOW ecigs/personal vaporizers aren't as easily accessible as some talking heads would lead you to believe.. most of the better suppliers have been running extremely low on kits

when you see negative reviews of a supplier on HERE... it's most likely a better idea to try a different one

i agree with walrus.. to "replace" a cigar.. you might want to try a big vaper monster like the penstyle... BUT.. they break down easily.. so you may want to start with a 901 model... either one of them does it's job like it's suppossed to.. just remember.. they are FAR from infallible..

as far as "purity and safety" of juice.... that's a good question... nobody has a "definitive" answer... again.. good time to "troll" the forum and see what other's opinions are... my personal experience... i usually use the 36mg nicotine.. and i HAVE spilled it... i've gotten it in my mouth.. and obviously im still alive to be typing this... :)

nic gum... hehe.. whatever works.. honestly..

i'm going to be honest in my opinion here...

if all you smoke is ONE swisher every OTHER day... this might not be for you friend... i'm not saying to not try it... but i'd stick with the one cigar deal.. i'm going to assume you don't inhale.. personally... i inhale any nicotine smoke that goes into me... but one cigar even everyday isn't the HUGE problem that most vapeheads faced before the ecig..

if you decide you ARE going to try it though... i recommend whatever kit you get to stick with LOW or NO nic liquid and cartridges.. if you do that.. you should be ok...

hope this helped some

I belong to a lot of forums but I don't think AW is one of them (what is AW).

Thanks for the good input gang. Taukimada, you are right it might not be for me. Although I am under the same theory that 1 cigar every couple of days isn't that big of a deal - it's still not healthy but I still enjoy it. I suppose I would just have to regulate and moderate the same as I would with any vice.

I do inhale the mini-swishers.

I don't need a ton of vapor... just enough to pacify me and carry on. I like the super-mini looks and size, I just wish it would perform better (in reviews).

If I were only smoking a swisher every other day, I probably would just stick with that. Only problem I see, is that's how I started smoking in the first place. Only one cig a week for a long time, then one every few days, then one every day, ended up a pack a day smoker. (Well there was a time I was smoking 2 packs a day, but that was a long time ago). If you want to try an ecig, I'd suggest 0 nicotine liquid. At one smoke every other day, the nic is well out of your system before you have your next puff.

NewcastleB (as in New Castle Beer... one of my favorites)-

I see where you are coming from and that's my concern. What if e-smoking rocks! I would certainly see myself enjoying more. I would venture to guess that my smoking has increased in general since the 8 years ago I quit smoking cigs regularly. None for 4 years to cigar every other month to cigar ever other week to cigar weekly...to today.

We are all fighting our own battles. Fundamentally would picking up e-smoking be wrong in itself. Have non-smokers picked up the e-smoking habit versus the smoking cessation device idea?
