So with the amp limit on the mini V2.5 of 3.5A, using a 1.8Ω coil you can pull a full 20w without tripping protection circuits?

(I just got a $100 Visa gift card, I'm trying to justify the cost of a mini and extras even discounted by $100)

No, the watt limit on the Provari is 15.0 watts.

I use my two Provari's (regular and Mini) with my AGA-T2's with 2.0 ohm coils. I prefer the higher ohm myself. I prepare my coils and check for hot spots using the Provari using incremental pulse dry burns before adding the juice, just as Zen shows with the ZAP demo video done for Provape. Works for me.

By the way, eHuman, I've included a link to your AGA blog, in my own blog. Thanks again for all of your advice when I was getting started. Glad to hear you may be getting a Provari. You'll love it.

Just Curious...

What range of Watts do you Usually like to use?
With mechanicals I vape close to 20w.

No, the watt limit on the Provari is 15.0 watts.
I read the provape site page and could only find a an amp limit of 3.5, but no wattage limit. 6v on a 1.8Ω coil is 20w. Where can I view provape's watt limit? It doesn't make sense to have a watt limit on a VV mod when they are already limiting current, I'll accept what you say, but show me.

I am glad that I have been of some assistance to many here. You have some good info on your blog also.
So for carts, what's your fav topper for the provari, and for rba's what's your fav on the provari? I'm ashamed to say with all of the time I've put into AGA-Ts, they have been collecting dust because of my IGO-Ls. I'll break them back out and wonder why they sat for so long.

...

If you are Up in the 20watt world, I would Definitely Check with some other High Watt users.

Because I think 20watts might be too much for a Provari v2.5

BTW - Have you e-Mailed Provape and Asked them?

I have contacted them before and they are Very Helpful.

i usually try to avoid referencing critics/reviewers, but according to phil busardo's review of the provari v2 (same chip as the 2.5 i believe), it will NOT fire at 6v/1.8 ohms. if you go to about 29 minutes, he puts up a chart that shows the voltages it will fire. he didn't test a 1.8 ohm coil, but 1.25 and 1.5 ohms did not fire at 5.5v, and 2 ohms did not fire at 6v.

I assume you're asking about my cartotanks? I have settled on a single pyrex cartotank: IBTanked. I currently have up to a dozen running simultaneously, each with their own flavor. The 19mm are the same diameter as the top of the Provari cone; the 22mm is the same diameter as the Provari's body.

I use a Pro Ring beauty ring for a flush look with the 22mm, as with the above first pic with the AGA's. The Tatroe base is handy to use with the top-heavy AGA's, and also makes a nicer grip for the Provari's when I take them out of the house (Not extremely pocket-worthy in that configuration, though.). Tatroe also makes an extender ring to add length to use either an 18490 or 18650 battery in the Mini.

I use Ikenvape 510 Fusion and Platinum carto's in standard resistance and punched! I try to keep a large supply on hand, as they are often out of stock on the Ikenvape website. Get on their "notify me" email list, and grab them as soon as they get them in. They sell out fast. I use Smoktek 3.0 ohm single coils for a backup carto.

My only experience with RBA's are with my two AGA-T2's. I absolutely love them when they are working at optimum, but find they become fussy and unreliable. I'm not a person who likes to tinker, so when that happens they sit for a period of time until I feel like messing with them again.

I've really gotten into my new bottom feeder mod lately. A Vapage VMod-XL. Just as good of flavor as an RBA (to me) without all the potential fussiness. Extremely light and compact, fits a pocket well. No leakage. 18650 battery, 9 ml juice tank. 2.0 ohm drip atty. What's not to like?

The actual limit is a little more complicated. I got this information second hand, from another forum member who contacted Provape tech support. He sent me copies of the email conversation.
It's what is called the "Provari Number". If you multiply the wattage x the amperage, the result must never exceed 50.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I'm still on the fence on the provari, I'm loving my mechs and rbas. I have 2 months to spend this card without them taking $10 per month off of it. I'll figure it out.

If you strictly use RBA's then I think you should pass on the provari. Where it excels is with standards cartos and tank systems at lower wattages. If you are like me and use carto tanks and the like when you are out and about then a Provari is a fantastic choise.

On a side note, if you like your RBA's and you want something that is pocket friendly that won't break the bank then you should look at the Reo Grand. I strictly use RDA's on my Reo. There are no leaking issues like you have with Guinness style atomizers, but you still get the big resivuar of juice. My Reo and Provari are my two most used devices (and I have a lot of devices).
