So yesterday I was in CVS (a local drug store in Illinois). I asked what area of the store that I could find PG in. I got a weird look from the pharmsist and was told after he looked it up that it is only sold by perscription only!!!! WTF?!?!?! I thought with what I have read on here that it is available at any store like Walgreens? Whats the deal people?

Please HELP! I am trying to understand what the he!! is going on here. Did they just out law PG also?:grr:

I don't know, but I can say that about 3 weeks ago I went in a drug store that does mixing and asked for PG. I could have sworn I heard the (probably) pharmacist mumble something to my cashier guy like " yeah, we can still sell it over the counter." I decided I was just imaging things, but now after you say this it makes me wonder if maybe she really said that. Obviously, the key word there was "still." I don't really know how they could make an issue of it since it's sold for use on cattle.

I went to Wallmart and they said no way. They need it and I could not get it. I asked if they could order it and they said "No way". I went next door to a Cub store and they placed a order for it. I have found that I like VG for cutting better and it is at many more stores. Most natural food stores or Co-ops will have VG.

VG is usually sitting right there on the shelf at WalMart and Hobby Lobby for sure. It's not really a problem.

ok what do you call VG again cause I just called Hobby Lobby and they hung up on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:grr::grr::grr::mad::mad::grr:

Where on the shelves or departments at the stores are they at? So I don't have to get the third degree for asking.

At Hobby Lobby, VG is in the candy and baking supplies. It's a small 2-ounce bottle, so you really have to look for it. At my store, it's at about knee level. It says glycerine in big letters. It's Wilton's brand. Just ask if they have Wilton's baking and/or candy supplies. At WalMart, VG is in the first aid supplies maybe near Band-Aids. It's for skin protection. It's a bigger bottle than the Wilton's but still only about 5-6 inches high.

too funny I've been everywhere between the two small towns I live in,, not finding VG didn't suprise me.. it was not meeting a single person younger our older then me who knew what VG was that really suprised me..... When they asked what I need it for I tell them I am making home made natural hand cream,,, which is true for it's usuage... incase anyone wants to use that reason instead of I want to cut nictoine with it..

I think you should try Walgreens? CVS gave me the deer in the headlights look too. Walgreens ordered it after some wierd comments about cleaning my nebulyzer... ?? .. I just nodded.
According to others, Tractor Supply sells it to, much cheaper. After your post I'm thinking I'll just go there and get a gallon.

This is kind of strange, isn't it. Wonder about it. Maybe next time you go to a Pharm ask for 100% USD Vegetable Glycerin, pretend to be reading it off of a list your wife sent you with, say "I don't know, something for her dry skin" and act dumb. Something has been sent around, PG and VG warnings from FDA...somebody who works in Pharmacy may be able to answer that for sure. If they ask are you going to smoke this you say "WHAT???"

I went to WalMart and CVS and never found it there. The only place I found VG was Whole Foods. Heritage Brand Food Grade Vegetable Glycerin 4 oz. for $5.00.
Found it in the "hair care" department after asking an associate.
My reason? I wanted to bake a "sugar-free" cake. Even she was confused why it was in the hair care dept., since in had "nutrition information". I checked on youtube and apparently, people do use it as a moisturizer for hair too.
YouTube - vegetable glycerin
You should find it right away anyway(knee level), so no need for an associate.

Have a great day!

In your bushes, watching you undress
PG can be bought or ordered through any tobacco store. PG is used in humidor humidifier units to prevent mold from building up on the humidifier.

I don't know if there are different grades of PG though, might it be different? Might they add another chemical to it? I don't know... but I have bought propelyne glycol for years for my humidors.
