Hey everyone,
I am very new to vaping since I just quit smoking cigarettes. I have been buying disposable vapes and have one refillable pod system that I haven't been using much. But I recently came to the conclusion that I have a sensitivity to propylene glycol, which is in every disposable vape I have found so far. It has made my lymph nodes very swollen and sometimes I feel like there's a lump in my throat that won't go away except on days I don't vape as much. Before realizing it was the PG, I had a doctor's appointment to examine me to see if it was cancer or something serious, and I even had a dentist appointment to rule out tooth abscess/infection too just to be sure.
Long story short, I was wondering if anyone knew of a disposable vape brand that does not have any PG in it. I don't even care about the flavor at this point.
If these don't exist, does anyone have a recommendation for a good PG free vape juice?
Thanks in advanced!

Hello @Scev, that's a very good question.

As far as I'm aware of I've never hear of such a thing, I do know that @stols001 uses PEG100 in her own home made liquids instead of PG due to sensitivities.

But maybe a pod mod may be of interest like the Vaporesso Target PM 80 SE or something similar, maybe something even with an RBA (Rebuildable Atomiser) depending upon where you're located.

As I do know that in the US things are not looking to great with vaping, but you can get wire and wicking material without any major issues and it can work out cheaper in the long run. Which can allow you to spend money elsewhere and more wisely.

They're just ideas though.

@stols001 is definitely the right person to ask about it.
Another things folks do to combat side effects of vaping is cutting the juice with 5-10% distilled water, but if you are sensitive (or allergic) the best thing to do would be to substitute.
You might want to look up Uwell Caliburn or Caliburn KOKO, these 2 apparently can handle high VG juices very well. You're going to struggle with flavors though, I think most flavorings known to human kind are PG based. But there are some VG based flavorings as well, here in UK most of them are like twice more expensive than PG based. Still, better than going back to smoking. Good luck!

Oh yeah and I personally, if I was you, would just invest in a refillable system. Looking for disposable pure VG pods will just cost you a lot of energy, and you will save yourself some money because disposables are just about the worst value-for-money you can possibly choose. Takes about 20 seconds to refill a pod, and you can use virtually anything you want to fill it. Just don't buy any Smok pods. Most of them suck. And their coils suck as well.
Good luck!

Thank you! I really appreciate the suggestion! I think I will definitely look into those pods rather than continue the search for a disposable that will work for me. The Uwell Caliburn is a very good suggestion I think, as it looks pretty small yet functional. I don't mind too much if the flavors are limited, as my main concern is having something to smoke that is less harmful than cigarettes. Eventually I'd like to be able to move down to no nicotine vaping once I wean myself off of nicotine.

Thank you for the reply! I think I will definitely just seek out a pg free vape juice rather than find a disposable as it seems like no one has heard of any, and having something refillable would be much better financially.

Excuse my attitude, but screw disposables! Besides not being refillable and also most don't have an on'off switch (I've had issues with "auto-draw" before) they are basically crap quality. Get a nice refillable pod. Yes. you can "thin" juices with distilled water (and/or just limit the % of PG) Personally, I don't have a major issue with PG but don't really like anything over 30% (bothers my throat) Not giving you a hard time... just don't care for disposables. Also, you might enjoy your vape more with decent juices (even though you said you don't care) Do you know what nicotine strength you like?

The reaction is very understandable, as I have found the disposables to be convinent but not very good quality. Sometimes they "leak" smoke even when I'm not hitting it. I think I like the 3 or 6%, but ideally I'd like to go down in strength until I can just use nicotine free, as I like smoking I just am trying to kick the nicotine addiction entirely but cold turkey has never really worked for me, which is why I am trying to get into vaping instead since I will have more control over what I'm smoking. If you have any suggestions for something refillable that can handle pg free liquid I'm all ears! I definitely dont want to go back to cigarettes but I also would like to avoid the discomfort of the swollen glands and the feeling in my throat.

There's loads of options available to you @Scev, as MTL (Mouth To Lung) vaping has recently had a resurgence.

But it's budget and what you like within it that'll direct your choice, as you range from pods to mods with removable batteries. Which are better in some respects, as when the battery reaches the end of its lifespan and doesn't hold a charge well you can just replace the battery and not have to throw away the entire mod, which in my opinion is a waste.

Hopefully we'll come up with some good candidates for you though.

You are going to have to do a few things. I am PG sensitive (not actually allergic) and I can tolerate 1-% but otherwise I get pins and needles sensations they are unpleasant. If you cannot tolerate ANY VG at all, be aware that most commercial juice is MAX VG and that means less than 100% because most flavors are in PG form.

If you can get away with SOME PG, you might be able to tolerate some MAX VG flavors. Otherwise, I am going to have to recommend DIY (I'm sorry but it does wind up being fun) and there are some flavor companies who offer flavors in VG, you will just have to find out and they will be limited.

I have used very high VG liquids in MTL setups without many issues at all. However, you can also "cut" your VG with distilled H20 (some say 10% I never went over 5 personally) or even Vodka if you feel adventurous although it actually winds up boring or it did to me, everything tasted like "whatever flavor mix plus vodka." I stuck with DW.

A knowledgeable member here introduced me to PEG400 and I liked it it's not as thin as PG, but it's less thick than VG. It's also a bit more of a flavor carrier. I found my flavors tasted "sharper" somehow.. Less muddy.

In any case most cigalikes have a high percentage of PG in them so you may be able to handle more than you think but you would have to find out.

Also please do YOUR research on PEG400 I did. I would never recommend it to someone without research. Good luck you will work it out..

You will want to check out juices with "nic salts" (won't get into it but they are "smoother" at the high nic levels... 3-6% = 30 -60 mg/ml) If you are doing 3% (30 mg) you are not ready to reduce your nic levels (nothing wrong with that... take your time) I think a nice (refillable) pod and some good juice is all you need. Might not be a specific issue with PG but if you are sure it is, just get some 70VG/30PG and add 5% distilled water and try that. If you really feel that PG is the issue, then simply mkae your own juice (DIY) with VG and distilled water (it's not that hard) I don't recommend over 5% DW myself (it is surprising how much even 5% can thin VG) Maybe you are just trying to push that little disposable too hard (they are not for "chain vaping or continuous vaping) Take short draws, wait a minute between vapes (or get a device made for that and then use lower nic levels)

The Uwell Caliburn refillable, stick-style, fairly small pod system that has HUGE wick holes for high VG juices. Might even do 100% VG juices.

I don't own one, but you should look into it. The Caliburn has been one of the most recommended pod systems since pods came out.

Buy one, then all you have to do is buy some max VG or 100% VG juices to try it out.

As has been said before, the juice in you disposable is likely pretty high in PGm probably over 50% even. So you may not actually need 100% VG juices to be able to vape pain free. You may just need a smaller percentage of PG in your juice.

It has an on-off button so it won't go off in your pocket and it has both button-draw mode and auto-draw mode (like a disposable).

That's the problem with "auto-draw"... if you can remove the pod when not using the device you are fine, but if not they can fire any time (like in your pocket or even in windy conditions) Most decent pod devices either have an on/off switch (for safety) or you just remove the pod and no worries ;)

@UncleJunkle , many places are out of stock but I did fin this:
Uwell CALIBURN 11W Pod System
Maybe you have some better links (I tried to keep it within the US but not sure that matters) Don't know where OP is located.

I have no idea where to get one. But the store you linked to is reputable. I also heard recently that the FDA sent a warning letter to Uwell telling them to stop exporting the caliburn to the USA, but I have no idea if they are going to listen to the FDA because there is no reason to pick on the Caliburn since it is a refillable system and the market is full of other refillable systems.

I'm sure there are other pod systems that can take high VG today, but I only mentioned that one due to it's form factor, size and the fact that it has auto-draw in case the OP absolutely needs that.

There's also the Caliburn KoKo but it's not a stick-style. The pods are interchangeable between the Caliburn and Caliburn Koko but the Koko has a slightly smaller battery and it is only auto-draw (no button). And no on-off button.
