Hello all,

This is my first post. I've done some Google searches and haven't quite hit on my question specifically. Is it possible to over prime a coil? When I got my first vw mod and tank, the iStick 50 watt and kanger subtank mini, I primed the coil with only a couple drops and it was working beautifully. When I changed my coil to the replacement I think I put too much liquid into the coil, not just in the side to hit the cotton. I literally put like 15 drops in it because I was watching a video that instructed to do that. When I attempted to start vaping with it I was getting extremely hot vapor and not much production. I started thinking my tank was messed up so I got a new tank and I primed the coil the same way with it. I then had the same issue. Low vapor and really hot even at low wattage < 10 watts. So then I thought it was my mod not supplying proper power or something. I sent it back to be repaired and when I got it back I was having the same issue. So I started blowing into the drip tip while firing the mod to try to clear out anything that was inside to see if that would help. After doing this for quite a while and after many unsatisfying hits it started working properly again. So I guess I was flooding the coil with all the juice I primed it with? I haven't had to try a new coil yet, but after I get some information I imagine you really don't need but a few drops on the sides of the cotton in combination with filling the tank and allowing the juice to soak the cotton on its own. Has anyone else experienced this? The coils I flooded were the Kanger .5, 1.5, and the delta II .5s.

Thanks

Nick

Yes, I would say you over primed it. I put 5 drops typical in mine and some on the sides and let it sit in the tank for a few minutes. Occasionally after the tank is full, I'll cover the airholes and take some primer pulls to bring in juice. I've never flooded my subtank mini when I use the RBA deck or any tank for that matter.
