Herro!

Okay, so I need to start making my DIY juices a little sweeter so I went out and bought some Organic Stevia Extract Sweetener by SweetLeaf. I got it in the powdered form and I want to mix it into a liquid sweetener... SO I have a couple of questions:

1) Which would be the best base to mix this with to get a concentrated sweetener? a) Vegetable Glycerine b) Propylene Glycol c) Distilled Water

2) What concentration should I make it? Well, I'm mixing it in a 30mL boston round so if I want 30mL sweetener, how much of the powdered stevia extract should I put in with the base? 1 tsp? 2 tsp?

3) Has anyone used this brand of stevia extract that can attest to it's effectiveness? If not, it's okay. I will once I mix something up. Please still answer questions 1 and 2 regardless.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Also, thank you for taking the time to read and respond!

Josh at Open Source Vapor was trying out stevia in his blends. Check his thread in the supplier forum or email him.

I bought some at a store in liquid form but it had some other stuff in it and didn't like it. This week I bought some liquid at GNC. It has water, stevia, and 11% alcohol. It says on the label to add 2-4 drops to whatever, serving size 4 drops, 462 servings per bottle.

I added 2 drops to 10ml unflavored VG and it barely gives some taste. I'm going to add 4 next.

For you, it depends on your normal mix. PG would probably mix the best, VG the worst, DW only if you need to thin your final mix (although if you only need a few drops per 10ml it might not matter).

Thanks Paul! I appreciate you taking the time to respond! I was actually browsing that thread just before I visited vitamin cottage lol. That's what gave me the idea!

I read somewhere that people have had issues with the premixed liquid stevia sweetener and its flavor which is why I picked up the pure stevia extract powder.

I just tried mixing 2 teaspoons of the stevia extract powder into 25mL's of Propylene Glycol and most of it has dissolved, having a hard time getting the last little bit on the bottom to dissolve. So I'll probably filter this, clean the bottle and use the filtered and saturated propylene glycol as the sweetener.

I will report my findings on it's effect and taste!

I suggest trying something around 4 grams for 30mL, then try around 2-8%. Don't use water or alcohol. PG will be easier to work with, but I use VG and it works too - it's just harder to get a nice homogeneous mix. Blend it well and don't be shy (at all) about using heat. Microwave it if you have to - it's gonna look pretty nasty until you get it to dissolve.

Also, are the volumes fully additive? Or partially additive?
