Have a new OBS Engine II. When I screw it down tightly, it shorts. Did a quick test with no liquid or wick and couldn't make it short. Just wicked it again and it shorts. Loosen it a little and it doesn't. I've been very careful with wick placement and also, I'm assuming that the dry test proves that the posts are not hitting the inside chamber. However, I'm at a loss. Thoughts please.

Gentle Smoke If you remove the coil and wick and the problem goes away, your coil is making contact with the deck (or the chimney if it's sticking out too far). A visual inspection should reveal where the coil is touching the deck.

Couple of other things to check. First, does the inner contact pin on the 510 connector stick out a little past the 510 threads? If it's flush or below the 510 threads, you can have a short created by the threads bottoming out and touching the 510 pin assembly when you screw it onto the mod. That could be causing a short.

Check that and also use an ohm meter to make sure that the coil isn't shorted to the chimney or the deck of the atomizer. The quick check is the 510 connector. If you get less resistance than the resistance the atomizer coil should be, the problem is in the atomizer. The coil could be pressed down and touching the deck.
