Hi guys sorry for the noob, I have a quick question about my multimeter. I googled it but didnt find any explanation.

When I try to read the ohms of a coil I just built, just by itself, the ohm reading jumps around a lot or reads something nonsensical like 6 ohms.

When I attach the coil to the rda (Magma) then it reads normal like it should.

I suspect that there is some basic law of electricity that I don't know about, but I don't know anything about circuits and things.

The reason I want to read the resistance off of the atomizer is so that I can dial in dual coils as close as possible before installing them.

Thanks in advance for any help, and sorry for the noob!

To get dual coils as close as possible, use the same roll of wire, wrap on the same mandrel/drillbit, wrap the same number of turns.

Before wrapping coils, look at the post positions on the atomizer, and decide how your want your coil legs to end up.
On some decks, the coil legs have to end up pointing in opposite directions; on some decks (example: most 3 post rda's), the coil legs end up pointing in the opposite direction.
Another thing I pay attention to is whether to wrap clockwise or anticlockwise; my instictive inclination is to wrap clockwise, but on typical rda decks, anticlockwise fits better to get the coil legs coiling clockwise on a post screw, and aligning more symmetrically
