Nitecore Intellicharger I4

I have just recently purchased this charger because of the 4-bay as opposed to the 2-bay pila charger. I'm a little confused and what all the blinkin lights mean. I've read the owners manual, the description on nitecore's website and still have questions. Does it take a while to charge for anyone else too?

What Archaviator said, and adding to his last sentence... how long the charge time depends greatly on the degree of discharge. If you put a battery on the charger that has only been discharged to 3.4v, then charge time can be fairly quick... discharged to 2.5v can triple the time.

When the lights stop blinking... the battery is charged and that bay or slot goes to a standby or maintenance mode... what they call a "trickle charge".

You also have to keep in mind that these chargers with more than 2 bays only result in longer charge times when you put more than two batteries in them. They do monitor all four batteries independently, but they rely on switching the charge current between the battery in bay 1 and 3, and bay 2 and 4. You can charge four batteries at the same time - slowly - compared to a two bay charger.

I have one of these and charge 2 18650s at a time in it often. Your explanation of how the active charging rotates makes me think I should be using bays next to each other which I do not do as it makes it easier to get them out if they are spaced. Can't tell you how many times I've gone to pull one out without having a good grip on it and when it cleared the top bracket it shot out of my hand across the room...lol. Those springs are tight!

I have one of these in route and as I understand from the research I did before ordering, you are doing it right. If you are only charging 2 batts, you are supposed to use 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, not side by side. No idea why, but that's the info I found. Wish I could remember where, I think on the manufacturers website, possible in a pdf user's manual. If not, google is your friend. ;)
