I think I must have a defective unit. I bought a new D4 from my local vs to augment my first charger, an I4 Nitecore (which I had previously purchased online when I went to removable battery powered mods), so I could charge more than 4 18650's at the same time. Ever since I got the D4 I noticed that right after starting to charge, the screen would stay lit for about 15-20 seconds, then go dark for about 5 seconds, then light back up for 15-20 seconds and repeat this cycle of going off and on. I have also observed that the batteries don't all finish charging at the same time like they do with the I4 model, even when they all have the same amount of charge left when I put them in to start charging. They all eventually get charged, but the D4 seems to take longer than the I4 does when charging the same number of batteries with comparable discharge states at startup. Do I have a defective D4? I will be travelling this summer and at the rate I go through batteries (I'm pretty much a chain-vaper when I drive, lol!) I will need to charge more than 4 batteries at the end of the day.

The cells not being fully charged at exactly the same time isnt something I would be too concerned about(both my D2 and D4 end up with batteries getting done at slightly different times). The fact that it keeps power cycling would be concerning to me, though. If I were in your shoes, I would take it back to where I bought it and either get a refund or swap it out for another one.
