Hi guys,

I currently have this problem for a month now since I started dripping. Tried different coils which I can't name all but I am going to try. Those builds I've tried we're in the Geekvape Peerless and a Goon V4 Clone (With side & bottom airflow)
-Dual Staggered 24GA*2 & 32GA. In a dual build it is 0.09 ohm.
-Dual Flat Twisted (don't know the GA). In a dual build it is 0.15 ohm.
-Dual Kanthal A1 22GA normal coils, don't know the ohm.

I used different cotton, tried high end juices instead of my home made juices and even tried to place the coils in different positions. Like close to the airflow, not close to the airflow, a bit up and a bit down. The flavor only slightly differs when I move around te coil. With the Goon V4 I even tried closing the bottom airflow, or the side airflows so I only get air from one side.

With the Geekvape Peerless I don't get any flavor. With the clone Goon V4 I can taste a little bit. I know about the vapers tongue and when I drink water the taste of my vape remains the same. I vape around 90-130 watts.

I am still convinced I make beginner mistakes, but don't know what. I would appreciate it if someone can help me out :)

I have added a picture of my Goon Clone with the staggered build.

do you get the same diminished flavor in your previous gear? i ask only because you say you started dripping a month ago. was there a gradual drop off of flavor or sudden? if you drop the power to around 60-80 watts and close down the airflow to half on the side and no bottom on the goon does it get any better or stay the same? i don't own either of these drippers, but have been dripping for a couple of years, and i had issues similar to what you describe. i ended up going to 26 gauge wire and 20-30 watts with a tighter airflow to get the big flavor. may help, may not. YMMV

I had the same with the Eleaf Aster RT22, but those coils are horrible in flavor. In my kanger subox mini C I've always had good flavor. Closing the airflow still gives me a muted flavor. I don't like to drop my wattage below 80, because I am also a big fan of clouds. Maybe it's really a vapors tongue and it may be a solution to try stopping for a week? That is going to be incredible hard, I have a summer job in a vape shop.

Thank you for your comment

Lol I just switched from Poparazzi Jerri's Berry's to Poparazzi Madore's Melons. I really think I vape too much. The flavor is still not what I expect, but much and much better :)

In general cloud chasing and flavor chasing don't work together. I like clouds myself but not to the point of completely sacrificing flavor. I'm using my Icon today. Dual alien coils 5 wraps 3.0mmid at 85 watts. Plenty of clouds and excellent flavor.

I think it'll be better for me if I wrap my coils myself too, currently use premade ones. Didn't know that more clouds results in less flavor. Thank you

Playing around tonight I made some coils to see. Dual, 24g, ss316l, 10 wraps, 3.0mm id 75watts preheat, 500°, rayon wicking, .25ohms. I'm using some DIY strawberry lemonade. I'm using my 30mm Mask RDA squonking on a lost vape Drone. The flavor is spot on. Dense and huge clouds.

Nice, I want to start wicking my own coils too now, but don't know where to start. How do you find a sweetspot with the coils and wattage? I've just ordered a Petri V3 clone to lower in my wattage.

I am also currently looking for a coil build to maximise flavor on my Geekvake Peerless. You seem like a very experienced vaper to me, could you please give me some tips?

Thank you ^ :)

My go-to flavor build currently is 26ga Ni80, 6wraps 3mm id, ohm-ing out at around .3 dual coil
Nichrome has short ramp up and ramp down time, you dont really need high wattage, it's my current build in my Recoil and the flavor just pops. plenty of vapor from it too as well, dense flavorful clouds.

How do you find a sweetspot with the coils and wattage?

them "sweet spot" will be different for every person.
start low, turn up the wattage by increments until you found the most satisfactory vape, flavor/cloud-wise, if it starting to taste burnt/dry, lower your wattage.

Nice, I want to start wicking my own coils too now, but don't know where to start.
Could through read:
Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!
How do you find a sweetspot with the coils and wattage?
Watts as mentioned by frose is true. Might like to consider these parameters:
Coil
An ID which allows a wick to refill at the pace of the vape and at the same time, permitting the wick to last as long as possible while being a diameter, as such, when inserted into the coil allow easy access.
Coil overall length as wrapped not to exceed the two post width.
Coil wire diameter (ga) should promote longevity when handled.
Material that promotes formation of coil/tasteless.

Types of Wick(s)
Best fluid transfer characteristics.
Provides best taste possible/tasteless.
Must not readily burn.
Allows easy insertion into into coil.

Ohms
High as possible which allows for rapid heating of coil but does not promote burning of wick yet at the same time permits maximum flavor.

I use tc most of the time so I use ss 316l wire. My go to wire fused claptons 2×26g/36g. Depending on what atty I'm using really dictates the build for me. I like to use 2.5mm or 3.0mm id. That's what works best for me. I must say I get bored easily so I build coils alot more than I need to. I also only use rayon for wicking. I also DIY my own juice. I have a strawberry lemonade I got from Flavor West that is amazing.
