Mothball breath?

Hi all. I've been lurking around for a few months but finally decided to join. This is my first post. Quick question - any foul breath issues with vaping any particular juices? A quick google search lead me to information about proper dental hygiene and drinking water. Check and check, my momma taught me how to brush my teeth I used to always have gum/mints on me when I was smoking but I thought I would be able to stop worrying about this since I've started vaping. I used to smoke newports so naturally I was drawn to menthol/minty flavors. However, with nearly all of the menthol juices I've tried my wife looks at me and says I have a very distinct "mothball" smell in my mouth. It's not even like when I'm right in her face about to maul her. She says she can smell it when we are in the car together.


I started with johnson creak tundra (24mg) and the last menthol I purchased was dekang menthol (24mg) and she says the same with both. Now, she has a weird sense of smell but I thought it was worth putting it out there and seeing if any menthol vapers have had similar experiences. I do not really like tobacco flavors but I've tried various fruity flavors and she hasn't mentioned anything about mothballs. But I really want my adv to be a menthol flavor and I really enjoy the defang menthol, but I quickly stopped vaping the menthol around her and others and now I'm only vaping it when I'm alone.


And in case my hardware has anything to do with it, here is what I'm working with:
2 joyetech 900mah ego twists
1 350mah ego mini


And I rotate between the following clearos:
Kanger T3
Kanger EVOD
mini nova
And I have a mini pro tank on the way


I usually vape 2.4 @ around 4v. I've played with the voltage to see if that would help anything and sadly it does not.


Hopefully someone can provide some helpful feedback.

So what you're saying is my wife is crazy? lol I thought that too until I grabbed another menthol flavor and the on the first day she was like - you out the mothball juice back in didn't you? Damn. That was my response. I hope its not all menthol flavors or I'm screwed.

No, that is not what I meant..silly. Dont' mothballs smell kinda minty? Ok, maybe a musty minty. Try a couple of other 5ml bottles from a different vendors to see if there is a difference. Could be the base your current vendor is using? Trial and error.

My money was on the "crazy wife" LOL! Seriously, it might be the particular flavor vendor used by the seller..........or..........your wife just doesn't like anything smelling remotely like the stinkies? I stayed away from anything tobacco when I stopped analogs just to get away from the taste and smell.

I am not sure what the dekang is actually.

Have pg/vg bases been found to have a relationship with breath?

When I saw the title I was cracking up so I had to check it out. I LOVE my menthol, I even add diluted crystals for more hit. Nobody's told me I smell like mothballs yet and I'm surrounded by non-smokers. I do get comments about my chocolate and butterscotch flavors, that they smell sweet and yummy...thank God!

I thought that too. Other johnson creek juices didn't have that effect. And the dekang is a completely different vendor.

I tried a few tobacco flavors and couldn't finish a 1ml clearo of any of them.

I actually would have thought the menthol juices would mAke my breath fresher. I actually ended up HATING the taste in my mouth with the JC tundra but the dekang menthol is extremely refreshing.

I hope I don't have to break down and ask someone if my breath smells like mothballs. But even if someone says no, that person will not be the person that let's me see them naked so I would end up having to defer to the crazy wife.

I was actually hoping someone would be able to say something like - yea I've heady of that. Try ____ brand, it's not known for that.

No. The pg/vg are flavorless, the vg being slightly sweet. Some members claim the the actual nic tastes different from different vendors. There is a whole section in the DIY forum about it. Maybe that has something to do with it. Or wifey just doesn't like menthol. You may have to go back to gum and/or breath mints for your sanity tho. (opps) I mean for the sake of your serene living enviroment. LOL

Dekang is the flavor company. It might be that vendor? Maybe try something from Mt Baker? As far as VG/PG, someone else may have an idea..............never had mothball breath so I am stumped!

I actually have mtbaker on my list for my next purchase. I read a lot of great things about azure vaping so i just received a few bottles from them and have the bottles steeping now. But mtbaker is def next on my list.

And maybe people have just been nice enough not to tell you that you have mothball breath.

Maybe you should try to get her to vape a little on it? That may help? Or maybe just drink a little more water after a vape session to get rid of the smell.

She switched when I did. I originally purchased the johnson creak vea system but rather quickly found that I hated cartos. She ended up staying with the vea bc she doesn't have problems with the cartos. She uses French vanilla flavor only.

Go the "samples" route if you're shopping around, a lot of the online vendors have sample packs, many that you can choose PG/VG, Nic mg, and flavor.

Oh I do that every now and then. At this point it's just to see the faces she makes. I've tried to get her on various flavors. She LOVES cotton candy. Like its a food group to her, but she didn't like any of the cotton candy juices I got her. For some reason she is only digging the French vanilla. Which I can handle, but not all the time.
