Hi I've been in the vaping industry for years now and have had many tanks over the years both mesh and normal coil, for me mesh was amazing at flavour and for more cooler vape lovers, however I found that normal coils provided more cloud and less juice consumption with some tanks and were able to achieve the same amount of flavour as mesh with the right build. But I still curious as too how many people prefer mesh over normal coils and vice versa and why ?

I've never used mesh. I've wound simple 2mm and 2.5mm coils for a decade. Those fit my MTL vaping style. I played with dual coil atties for a while, but found them to be overkill for my cigarette style vaping preference.

I've always preferred recreating the inhale and vapor of a lite cigarette. I was a Marlboro Red smoker for decades who tapered down to light cigs a couple of years before starting to vape.

My typical coil build is 8 wraps of 28ga SS316, stretched and pressed back together. That leaves a tiny space between each coil for a little more coil surface exposure and a little more vapor from the juice. My coils at 10W produce a vapor plume similar to a Marlboro filter king.

That's interesting , I myself own many vapes and atomizers and like you I just can get away from my mtl , light , cool and flavourfull clouds . I'm using the vandy vape bskr v2 and it's amazing

I have only tried drop in mesh coils. One was lovely Nautilus mesh coil (0.7) and one was like, horrid (Zenith.)

I have never built with mesh. I am sure it's great for some, but IDK so much about the whole MTL deal.

The zenith coil wasn't terrible it just went bad very quickly.

I understand what you saying , mtl not for everyone, however it helps for alot of past smokers , and saves battery and flavour lasts , the only downside is clouds and not as much flavor

Every once in a while I will add a squirt of flavor to a small bottle of unflavored DIY juice. I vaped all sorts of flavors years ago and still have a large tackle box with little square dividers that is full of flavor bottles. I just kind of simplified my vaping style a few years ago and found that flavor wasn't that necessary as long as my DIY coils were clean and fresh.

I do wind and replace coils weekly to keep the unflavored juice vapor nice and fresh. I keep a few bottles of flavored DIY juice mixed up and use them sparingly.

I've vaped inside stores for years and no one has every complained or told me I couldn't vape in their store. That's one of the benefits of 10W MTL vaping. It lends itself to stealthiness.

It's more common than you'd think. It's the vaping version of unsweetened tea. :toast:

As I said uptopic, I add flavors here and there to a small bottle of DIY juice. I vape those infrequently. 80 to 90 percent of my vape is unflavored. It's more about the vapor for me and less about flavor.

I still vape both. But I really like the flavor and consistent vapor from mesh. It is always so smooth compared to coils. And I vape mesh more than not. My favorite tank is the Geekvape Zeus X Mesh. I stopped dripping and squonking after trying these tanks. :D

I started buying mesh atty's back in August 2017, switched to them exclusively by December that same year and never looked back to coil atty's again. Why? Because the 27 of them I acquired got it done far better for my vaping style than any coil atty's ever had.

(My style was big air DLH's for clouds of flavor from my nicotine free DIY juices with low sub ohm builds.)

Agreed.

i still prefer regular wire coils, but the Zeus X Mesh is for me the best mesh vape of the ones I've tried. I grabbed up a Profile RDA when they first came out and it was a nightmare of dry hits for months of trying EVERYthing. Didn't touch anything mesh for a long time after that.

The Profile Unity warmed me up a bit, After some fiddling I got to really like that one.

Not the hugest fan of the Kylin M. Not terrible, but just doesn't hold up to the Profile Unity. Actually, now that I think of it, I probably never gave it a real fair shake. Should get back to it.

The Zeus X Mesh is killer for what it is. A mid power flavor tank. Love it.

I will say this. The biggest problem with Mesh setups is NOT NOT NOT the cotton being too loose. It is the cotton being too tight. We were beat over the head with how tight the wicking needed to be in the og Profile from day one and this is totally wrong.

All I did was go back to the Profile and loosen up the wicking a bit and it vapes great with no dry hits at reasonable wattages. That's the only thing I never tried because absolutely EVERYbody was proclaiming how you just could never have your wicking too tight under that strip. OHHHHH yes you can :)

Tighter than regular wire coils? Yes. As tight as you can get it? No way. Even the designer and Wotofo got this wrong. No matter that they say :) LOL!

Been a MTL vapor from the start, and I'm a cheap bast..d to boot.
I wrap my own coils, (5/6 wraps around 3 mm Ekowool) which come in at 1.5-1.8 ohms.
I DIY, and I love flavors (TFA Hazelnut, and Espresso are my favorites)
So why would I bother with mesh (like I said ... I'm cheap)

Have only tried mesh in drop in coils and I think it's great but it's not that the coil cant give good results in both mtl and dl vaping in my opinion...
I am more into airy mtl but I play around with dl ATM and restricted dl cause I an kinda new and I do my all around goofing...
I think almost all new attys with drop in have mesh coils nowdays for mtl and dl
It just the rebuildables that keep the coil alive I think cause some of us like the procedure of building the coil and some just don't like changes :p
