Many of you are familiar with my hardships and frustrations with the Volt KR808, with all of the posts I've had lately. Therefore I did want to start this thread as a help for those who have also been disappointed with their 808. I just received my Firebrand, (used to be called Diablo) regular sized 510 today and must admit that it works very well. The battery seems to pushing the cartomizer very well, although I'm not really sure what the ohms are on this bad boy. Some of you Vets might be more familiar. The Firebrand Millennium uses VG in their cartos and I could tell right away that it produced better vapor then my PG on the 808. As most of you know, the taste of the VG is a bit muted in comparison to the PG so I guess you have to decide if you would rather have thicker vapor or stronger flavor. The only thing I need to do now is pick up a PCC, and everything will be perfect.

Glad you found one you're liking! Don't know anything about that brand, but on the ohms issue simply ask an electrician friend or someone you may know with a multimeter to measure it for you. Knowing would give you a reference should you ever go getting replacements. Heck, the guy at radio shack may do it just for fun.

For VG juice, most custom juice vendors will make high VG, some pure VG, juices for you. Yes, flavors are more muted but vapor is much greater. More PG in your juice will increase throat hit. Of course, you should get your own juice and refill your cartos as it is SO much cheaper and varied.

Thanks for your advice Scale, I do want to refill my own cartos and have done so in the past, but I'm a little hesitant about it on this model because the battery isn't sealed like the Volt. I don't want to leak any juice into the hole on the battery and ruin it. Also, I never seem to have any luck either with the blank cartos or filling them up properly. I always seem to have problems with the draw on the blanks, the air hole or the material inside the carto always seems either clogged or to full and it ends up making the draw tight, like your sucking a milk shake through a straw lol. I always use the condom method, so I don't know, maybe I need to switch to dripping with a syringe, I' probably overfilling it. Thanks for your advice :2cool:

Wish I could tell you something to make it all go away, but it doesn't. I always just removed the cap on my cartos and dripped directly in onto the material. Never tried the condom method. If you overfill, it will definitely get hard to draw; probably end up with juice in the mouth. Filling from the top I could always watch to see when it was getting saturated. Gotta go slow, don't get in a hurry. I would put 20 drops in slowly, let it sit for half an hour, and then top it off, but not too wet. Vape a while, then top it off again. Pretty soon I could almost tell when it was time to refill simply by how long it had been. Wouldn't vape it dry, just kept it moist at an even pace. Definite don't make a big puddle in there or the carto will clog with liquid; run it slowly down the sidewall.

Saw someone put cartos in a sock and spin it around to get the liquid down; maybe something like that?

Can't think tonight.....one more thing. Don't overfill, and before screwing the carto on, hold a paper towel toward the screw end and blow gently INTO the carto to make sure no liquid is in the airway ready to seep into your battery. As long as your carto is overfilled, it shouldn't lead into the battery. When resting or storing the unit, lay it on its side, not on end; that way liquid won't drain into the battery over time.

Thanks again Scale, I think the condom method makes it too easy to overfill, so I probably need to switch to the syringe. In regards to overfilling, how do you really know when its topped off? You can kind of see when it get saturated but I always fear that its not soaked enough and then you run into the problem of it running dry quicker, which of course could lead to scorching the cartomizer. I'm assuming that when you fill it, you just can't expect it to last as long as the prefilled, so you just have to either keep refiling throughout the day or fill up two or three to take with you on the road. Do you find that the flavor is stronger and more distinct when you fill your own as opposed to using the prefilled cartos? I'm guessing that most Vapers dont like buying the prefilled because it gets too expensive, which is a shame because it really is the easiest and most convenient method. The best deal I've been able to find on the prefilled is $2 a piece. Anyway, thanks again for your advice!

Hey, I just want it to work for you. You will need to carry a bottle or some extra prefilled cartos with you during the day. After you vape on it for what seems to be 3 or 4 cigarettes worth, simply change it out for another and refill it when you get home. Or if you have a chance during the day, pop the cap off your carto and drip in 6 to 10 drops (again, time will tell what is your usage rate) while watching your filler. When it stops soaking it up and looks like any more will puddle, stop, blow it out, and either cap it for storage or screw it back on and vape. If you never let it get super dry it won't burn, and any new liquid will soak in quickly. Go slowly with whatever you do, and you can see most problems coming.

I think you hit the nail on the head with slow, patient. These are the key words with refilling. Patience is a virtue for me that I'm kinda bankrupt in, ha ha. I do think that your exactly right, after some trial and error. You have to fill it slowly and then you have to let it sit for a while before its really ready for prime time.

Hey thanks Chin, I really appreciate that. My main complaint with the Volt was the cartos. The prefilled didn't last very long and when I tried to refill the blanks I had all kinds of issues, some of them probably self-induced ha ha. Everyone says that the prefilled and the blanks are the same cartos but I still to this day think that the prefilled were better quality. I also already owned a Volcano Inferno with the 510 threading so it made more sense to get a smaller device with the same threading.
