► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; First Impressions:
Among the eight colors available, I received the "Matt Red Carbon Fiber" color version for this test. The whole series has a nice mix of colors and decorative materials, I must say that I have a weakness for specimens with wooden decorations. The Mod in my possession has a beautiful shade of red and the black parts of the cartridge and the air adjustment ring match the carbon fiber decorations that are present on the side panels and on the handle. The handle itself offers a nice tactile sensation as the decorative insert is padded making it soft. The silver colored writings read "Centaurus Q80" and "Lost Vape", these writings are positioned in an opposite way above the side panels, they are not invasive at all and do not clash, on the contrary they embellish the underlying decorations always in carbon fiber.

Centaurus Q80 can accommodate a 18650 cell for a Max power of 80W. The UB Ultra tank with circular design has the classic bottom filling system and holds up to 5.5ml of e-liquid. The coils used are the UB Ultra and have the same name as the tank. For a system designed for RDL / DL vaping like this, I would have expected to be able to install a 21700 cell. Lost Vape this time, however, decided to produce a smaller and lighter kit, and for this reason the choice of the 18650 cell was decisive. In fact Centaurus Q80 has really small dimensions with a low weight of only 114g which is not bad at all. In addition, the finishes and construction solidity are really good. But these are the high construction standards to which Lost vape has always accustomed us.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; Screen and control keys:
The Quest 2.0 chipset of this version of Centaurus is simplified in its functions and interfaces with a nice 0.96 ″ color display that contains all the information useful for vaping, offers good visibility thanks to enlarged fonts, you will also have the possibility of choose from six different lighting colors to create the contrast you prefer, also depending on the ambient light conditions. My favorite background colors in the display are; white, green and blue. The 3 adjustment keys perform all the functions of the Mod and are correctly positioned to be reached in an intuitive way. All 3 keys protrude slightly, are sturdy and quiet. The Fire button is located above the Display and is square in shape, the "+ and -" adjustment buttons are rectangular and are located below the display just above the 2A USB Type-C Fast Charge socket.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; Safety protections:
Below you can read what any system notifications you will receive on the Display mean in combination with the active safety protections of the Mod.

    • Low Battery: This message indicates that the battery voltage is lower than 3.3V before use or lower than 2.85V during use. This warning will continue to appear for a few seconds after attempting to turn on the device. Please replace or recharge the battery.
    • Check Atomizer: It means that no atomizer has been detected or that the atomizer resistance is higher than 5.0Ω
    • Short Circuit: it means that the resistance of the atomizer is less than 0.08Ω
    • Too Hot: the device turns off when the internal board temperature is higher than 85 ° C. You can use the device again when the temperature returns to 65 ° C.
    • Over 10s: The output stops automatically and the screen shows "Over 10 seconds" when vaping continuously for more than 10 seconds.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; Battery compartment:
In the lower part, the opening direction of the cover to access the battery compartment is clearly indicated with an arrow, they are present; the disposal logo, the C E mark and the words "Designed and manufactured By Lost Vape LTD". The foot of Centaurus Q80 is shaped to keep the mod stable in an upright position, difficult to overturn. Inside the battery compartment, the positive pole is marked on the bottom, once the 18650 cell has been inserted, closing is done simply by pressing and sliding the door in the opposite direction to that of opening (indicated by the arrow) until you hear a reassuring sound (clack)! The closing / opening mechanism appears robust and precise, but I had no doubts because we are talking about Lost Vape.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; AFC & Vano-Pod:
The AFC system with knurled surface allows you to adjust the air flow through two opposing slots. The ring has an endless rotation and holds the set position well. Inside the compartment / pod you can see a metal ring screwed with two cross screws, this ring forms the magnetic base for the cartridge. On the bottom are the two contact pins which are spring loaded and gold plated.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; UB ULTRA POD:
The UB Ultra tank with circular design has excellent transparency and an e-liquid capacity of 5.5ml. A peculiarity of this cartridge compared to others is that it has a replaceable 510 Drip Tip. The Tp 510 drip is well made with two excellent silicone Orings, however it turns out to be an "unusual" solution for a DL / RDL device, probably Lost Vape wanted more to direct the UB Ultra Pod towards a more restricted "RDL" vape. On the bottom of the tank there are 3 magnets to make it integral with the Mod, moreover the cartridge uses the classic silicone rubber to access the filling operation. UB Ultra Coils are pushed from below in to the cartridge.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; Coils and Vaping Test:
In the package there are two UB ULTRA Coils and both are Mesh their dimensions are not excessive and have a high similarity in shape and size to Vaporesso's GTI Cois, without however being interchangeable. I used for this test TOB Tropical 70/30 with 1.5mg / ml of nic.

    ● UB Ultra M3 Mesh Coil 0.15Ω Range 60-80W:
After wetting this resistance, I inserted it into the UB ULTRA POD Tank and filled it with 5.5ml of my Tropical e-liquid. Then while waiting for the usual 10 minutes, I was distracted by a commitment of a few hours. Upon my return, I no longer remembered which resistor I had inserted, and even if the display indicated 0.16Ω and 60W of power which probably had been set automatically by the Smart function, I did not want to risk and I set 30W! I must say that I still had some doubts, that perhaps the resistance that was working in the tank was just 0.3Ω! Because at 30W this resistance works great, releases a good Aroma and the steam flow is satisfactory. When I finished the first 5.5ml, I extracted the coil to read its impedance, and in fact it was the 0.15Ω with Range 60-80W! Amazing how this coil was able to work so well with 30W below its minimum range of 60W. So I plugged the 0.15Ω back into the UB ULTRA POD and set 60W by fully opening the AFC. The good initial premises have turned into a reality made of large dense clouds and sublime flavor, the airflow is not exaggeratedly large, and I believe that the Drip-Tip 510 is a balanced restriction, able to concentrate the airflow for more clouds and flavor. Now the set is perfect, but I can't stop thinking about its effectiveness even with half the power, miracles of the Mesh! I then gradually increased to 70 and 80W and always with the airflow completely open. The flow of air comes out nice compressed and runs fast towards the throat, the flavor and the clouds increase even slightly, and the vapor never takes on too hot connotations. My weak one would therefore be 80W, but remembering how this coil is able to provide excellent performance's even at low powers, and the fact that I have a small 18650 battery inserted in the Mod, I lower the power to 60W without too many regrets. If I were to rate this resistance from 1 to 10; my vote would be 10!

    ● UB Ultra M3 Mesh Coil 0.3Ω Range 30-40W:
After enjoying like a hedgehog for a few days at 60W, now I decide to install the 0.3Ω resistor in the tank and put the 0.15Ω resistor (still in excellent condition) in the box. After wetting this resistance, I inserted it into the UB ULTRA POD Tank and refilled with 5.5ml of my Tropical e-liquid. This time I start to take the first shots at 20W, the coil heats up quickly, but the vapor is rather cold even when the AFC is closed. I therefore position myself at 30W with the AFC open at 50% and now we are! The RDL shot is perfectly contrasted and all in all the clouds and flavor are satisfying too. At 40W you can completely open the air flow, the flavor naturally strengthens and the vapor takes on greater density and proportions. I am also very satisfied with this UB ULTRA Mesh Coil, I find it perfect for Centaurus Q80 is for its 18650 battery. With a set power of 30 / 35W and AFC open at 50% the RDL shot is perfect, and the lower power consumption of the cell gives me several very pleasant puffs. When I take Centaurus Q80 to leave the house, I don't need any spare 18650 batteries with the 0.3Ω coil installed.

► Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod; Final conclusions:
With Centaurus Q80 I have not detected any problems and the natural formation of condensation is a very manageable aspect, just dry the cartridge compartment and the bottom of the cartridge at least once a day with a cloth. I am really thrilled that Lost Vape sent me this little gem for review, I think you will have understood it well while reading this text. So also considering the affordable price, I can safely recommend this new kit from the prestigious Lost Vape. I am sure you will like Centaurus Q80 Pod Mod.
