I am waiting for my Vamo in the mail. From everything I have read about them you are not supposed to use protected batteries. I have also read that while you MAY get it to work and it APREARS to be fine, it is not and may damage the Vamo.

I have not ruined a Vamo yet so I am not speaking from any personal experience.

No prob. I gleaned a lot of my information right here on the group. I have been agonizing over the battery purchase for a while now and at this point looks as though my Vamo will arrive and I won't have any batteries to use it yet :(

There are some real knowledgeable people here, hope somebody else pipes up with an opinion.

If it was me, I would only use that charger until I got a better one. Is there any brand name on it or is it a generic charger? Whoever the vendor is that you got your Vamo from, threw in the cheapest crappiest batteries they could. Probably did the same with the charger too.

Like batteries, there's a huge difference between charger quality. Xtar, Nitecore Intellicharge, and the Efest LUC are brand names to look for. RTD Vapor is a great site to buy both batteries and chargers.

I did! ordered two Efest Li-Mn 3100mah 20a flat tops right after I posted. I probably might have been able to spend a little less but they should get here the same time as the Vamo and charger.
I ended up getting the Nitecore I4 from an eBay vender for a little under 17 bucks. Got the KSD version of the Vamo.

I tend to over think things and get caught up in the attempting to get a great deal etc. which more than not is a waste of time.

It may not matter much in the Vamo, but those batteries are not as advertised.

IMR 18650 3100 mAh Efest 20 amp: Warning. these batteries are dangerous.

This cell is advertised as 20A. However it is based on a Panasonic NCR18650BE. All which is rated anywhere betweens 4A and 6.4A max continuous discharge. https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http://www.dampfakkus.de/akkutest.php%3Fid%3D531

Efest is notorious for over-rating their battery specs. They often re-wrap other manufacturer's batteries and advertise them with having better specs than the original cell. For example, their purple Efest 2500 mAh battery advertised as a 35 amp battery is a re-wrapped LG18650HE2 cell which LG says is only a 20 amp continuous rated battery. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/batteries-chargers/587759-purple-efest-18650-battery-warning.html

At the very least, at least you got an IMR battery (safe-chemistry, high-drain). It just wasn't the best choice battery to buy. Next time before you buy batteries, ask here so that ECF veterans can assist you in making a better choice.

When it comes to batteries for our mods, it really pays off in the long run to spend a little more to get better batteries and not worry so much about what a great deal you got on lesser batteries. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/batteries-chargers/587656-cost-good-batteries.html

Thanks for the heads up. I think these are going to be more than fine in the Vamo. If you have other suggestions I would like to hear them. At some point I will probably want another regulated mod that will push more than this 15 or 16 watts. I am also wanting to get a pair of 18350's for the V5.

There lots of contradictory reports on claimed performance, who actually makes what and where due to contracted manufacturing, relabeled products, counterfeits, even counterfeits of the relabeled brands etc. makes for some murky waters to navigate.

The AW 18350 IMR 700 mah 6 amp would be my first choice.

If you can find them, the purple Efest 18350 700 mah 10 amp battery is also a good choice.
