Hey all,

Trying to recreate High Caliber's Killa Vanilla flavor. I've tried a few different vanilla flavored juices and extracts in an attempt to figure out what it is about Killa Vanilla that is so damn tasty... but to no avail. So what is it exactly? A pure vanilla at a really high flavor content, a vanilla mixed with some other flavor that gives it that rich, creamy taste. I know that most vanilla flavors are mild, yet distinct, but Killa Vanilla is very "in your face", especially on the exhale.

What is it that I'm missing?!? Do I need to up the flavor content of the vanilla to 40%+ and just get a higher nic base juice, is it another flavor I'm missing... bavarian cream or something?

Please, anyone with experience with Killa Vanilla and DIY experience who has the knowledge to shed some light on this mystery, your input would be most welcome. I love this flavor, but not at $13 a 30ml bottle. I need to be able come somewhat close to recreating this so I can get my cost down to around $6/30ml... which I could do if I could just find the right combination of flavoring to do it!8-o

Thanks!

If you figure this out you'll be my hero. it's definitely not just vanilla. I started diy just to try and make this flavor, I gave up and constantly fight the urge to order it. all I know is it has to have some EM in it, and something buttery/creamy, I can't put my finger on anything specific :(

Glad to know I'm at least not alone in this! I could probably live without this, to be honest, but my fiance is being a stickler. I keep trying other juices that I know I can make in bulk at the reduced price that will satisfy my needs, but when she tries them her reactions range from "meh" to "that's good... but I like what we've been using. Can't you just keep getting me that?". And if I'm getting it for her, I won't be able to resist and I'll want to get it for myself too!

I know it's vanilla (hence the name), something sweet and creamy, and all of it in your face, especially on the exhale.

I'm gonna grab up some Bavarian Cream and Sweet Cream extracts, as well as some Liquid Stevia. I already have Cotton Candy extract, which I'm sure is probably already mostly ethyl maltol. I'll probably pick up some butterscotch flavoring as well... that seems like it would fit the ticket for Killa Vanilla's "sweet and buttery notes", as butterscotch is essentially sugar and butter. I'm hoping that will cover everything. The sweet, the vanilla, the creamy, the buttery.

Once I figure out an acceptable recipe I promise to post it and not just tease the forum with "I figured out Killa Vanilla, pm me if you want the recipe" like that one guy did in 2 threads and then hasn't returned in several months.

Heh, KV in 24mg is my vape of choice for work today. :) On eGo-C SR atty, and a Twist battery at around 4.0v. So yummy. It's an amazing flavor, but I try to only treat myself to it once a week or so, just so I don't get so hooked on it. My local vape shop stocks it ... the usual 14ish bux for a 30ml. Not "expensive" of course, but yeah we can do it!

I plan to vape at least a ml of it on my next break. :) It burns so quickly at 4v it seems. But I'll try and pay a little more attention. Maybe spin the dial on the twist a little to see if I can get other flavors to announce themselves.

Something tells me we have the same local vape shop... Esmokeronline on South Orange I take it? Yeah, the price is somewhat reasonable if you look around at what some other places charge for their juices... but if I can recreate it, I'm at less than $6 for a 30ml bottle... Gotta try!

Hmmm, maybe? I usually don't like any baked goods flavors, so that's a tough one. It could just be that I've tasted the wrong ones? It's not like I've really tried all that many juices. But so far every baked goods and coffee juice I've tried I've hated (which is odd cuz I live on carbohydrates and coffee... go figure). But now that you've said it, I kind of smell it now.

Indeed it is. I bought one of the small bottles with my first eGo kit. I still have some of it, because I've limited my use of it. But soon I will need a new bottle. Gonna keep with the 24mg because it makes a nice at work vape. :)

I think the KV is primarily Capella Vanilla Custard, maybe some other lessor flavors. Never got the graham cracker, but then its going back a couple years since I have vaped KV, so memory might not be so good. I do think it is VC, though. I have tried about every vanilla out there, including extracts, and VC is very unique. That's what I tasted when I got some KV.

Haven't tried Killa Vanilla, but am currently working on a Vanilla Custard/Sweet Cream/Ethyl Maltol mix that has a good flavor profile, Only made one batch so far, but the profile was good, not quite as strong as I was looking for so still working on percentages, also going to go with a little more VG then I normally mix with on my next batch as throat hit is a bit weak for me... If you have those flavors, try a mix up yourself, let me know how it compares....

The KV I had was an unthinned VG juice from Vaporgalaxy. That was verified by the owner of Vaporgalaxy. I think the fact that it was VG and unthinned went a long way towards the flavor/sensation/enjoyment. Fantastic for atty-dripping. Too thick for cartos, however. Might be different with other vendors, but that was my experience with KV.

I haven't tried KV, but I'd agree that if you're after creamy taste, then Capella's Van. Custard would be a great choice (also their Van. Cupcake and TPA Van. Bean Ice Cream would work well). For a good, rich (but not so creamy) vanilla, I like Tahiti Vanilla (FA). I've been mixing that with Vanillin, a touch of EM, and a little Van. Cupcake. Makes a nice vanilla for me.

I love vanilla - I'll have to try the KV sometime. Before DIY, my favorite vanilla was KBV V-Spot Vanilla. Anyone tried that? Is it similar to KV?

I just placed an order for some more flavors from Perfumers Apprentice (all the flavoring I have currently is Vapor Renu/Flavor West... same company essentially). I got Bavarian Cream, Vanilla Bourbon, Vanilla Swirl, Graham Cracker and Butterscotch. I'm very interested in the Butterscotch... even if it doesn't contribute to the KV recipe I have a feeling it's gonna be delicious none-the-less! I got the Vanilla bourbon because it's a natural vanilla (the vanilla bean I have currently I suspect to be a vanillin... way too clear to be natural vanilla extract). The vanilla swirl I got because I asked my boss to smell the KV and he said it reminded him of Angel Food Cake. Graham cracker because something just told me to give it a shot. Their could be something akin to graham cracker in KV... kind of like how you add a pinch of salt to a desert recipe to enhance the sweetness, maybe something like graham cracker or waffle is used in the same way. Bavarian Cream cuz it's sweet and creamy. Add that to the cotton candy I already have (which I'm pretty sure is just ethyl maltol) and I think I have all the different flavor notes covered to do some proper experimentation:)

In the meantime, I'm enjoying a nice mix of wintergreen, ecto-cooler (orange and tangerine) and cotton candy... something I'm calling Sweet Citri-mint:)

Ok, my new flavors arrived yesterday. Unfortunately I still don't think I have everything I need for Killa Vanilla:( The butterscotch wasn't the right choice. It is sweet, creamy and buttery, but not a flavor that's in Killa Vanilla (maybe a drop or 2 to accentuate, but certainly not one of the main flavors). The Vanilla Swirl is exactly the rich vanilla flavor I was hoping it would be and is definitely a main ingredient in what will be my KV recipe. The Bavarian Cream is also a winner. Vanilla Bourbon... I think not, but will be good as part of other recipes I may endeavor to create;) The Graham Cracker I think will be like the Butterscotch... a drop or too to accentuate, but may not be part of the recipe at all. The smell does have something in it that hints at KV. I think because KV is actually meant to mimic a sweet cake/pie treat... and graham crackers are sometimes used to make pie crusts:)

I think what Killa Vanilla is supposed to be is a very strong vanilla buttercream frosting cake flavor. Which means I need a few more flavor extracts. I think I need to add a sweeter vanilla (from what I understand Vanillin Crystals fits this criteria), and maybe some caramel will help sweeten it?

I have some liquid Sucralose on the way... but that's only temporary until I can find a proper liquid stevia... I don't like the idea of inhaling chlorinated molecules that were originally intended to be a pesticide... I don't care if it's derived from sugar or that the FDA approved it as a sweetener.

I mixed up a 10ml batch (50/50 12mg 20% flavor) of the Vanilla Swirl, Bavarian Cream, Ethyl Maltol (1ml/.5ml/.5ml). Quite yummy. Not quite KV, but very rich and creamy and quite close to smelling the part. Just needs more sweet;)

I have more bulk juice on the way (screwed up and forgot to account for flavor diluting the nic base on my last order, that's why the nic density is so low... kinda new to diy) and hopefully the other flavors will be here next week. So I'm hoping by late next week I'll be vaping some homemade Killa Vanilla.
