Hey everyone,

What coil builds are you guys/gals throwing on your Subtank RBAs? I have been looking at triple wrapped 32g Kanth builds and Clapton builds as well, I am just not sure what to do.

I am having an issue with my wicking on my RBA as well. I used my (2) stock coils that came with it and the first coil was amazing but when I put on my second one it just wasn't the same. I watched a couple YouTube vids to see if I was doing everything right, and it seemed that I was. I use 60/40 and 70/30 vg/pg juices and I was getting burnt hits, at 20 watts with a .5 ohm build, and no juice flow. I ended up getting frustrated and went back to the stock OCC that it came with for now.

I will be ordering the new RBA that the subbox mini comes with since it has better wicking holes. I also might try to just drill holes in the RBA as a cheaper alternative, relax I am a machinist, so I know that I can do it.

Welcome Aboard!
Just stick with a standard 28ga Coil (of your choosing for Wraps/Ohms) then watch some Tutorials on Wicking the little Devils.
Coil is the easy part of the Function Equation. It's ALL in the Wicking Technique (IMO).
What he said...

But, if you have issues picking up the finer points of wicking that older RBA, the new one is TONS more forgiving.

again, thanks for the help. This just came to me, since the old RBA released around the time the original KBOX did, am I still safe to use the RBA since I don't have an LCD screen to read my ohms? I used the stock coils because I knew they would read close to .5 ohms and I felt I was in no danger. My budget is very tight at the moment and I can't splurge on an ohm reader, the new sub box or any more OCC, I have 1 left. :( What can I do?

Personally, even after building for almost 3 years now, I always check Ohms on EVERY Build with a Meter and then again on the Mod (if so equipped and not one of my Mechs).
Safety first. For your Equipment AND most of all, Yourself.
yup - and the original rba works tons better when drilled - had a couple, ended up throwing ALL of em on the drill press, lol - but the new one is better still :)

nice let me know @dcfluegel how the twisted build works for you. I do have a vape shop just down the road from me @LittleBird. Went in today but forgot to ask, all the shiny stuff caught my attention, about using theirs. What size holes did you drill the holes to @dcfluegel ? I think I will use an end mill to drill mine, one because I can and two because I think it will give a better finish to the holes and less deburring.

will let you know about the twisteds... i think it was a 5/64" drill bit - there is a vid or two on youtube on doing it (i don't think you need the instruction, but they mention the bit size, lol) - though if i had it to do over, would have gone slightly larger - teh holes on the v2 rba are MUCH bigger

Thank god for Dremels! They work well when you want to make that wicking hole just a bit larger for those crafty builds. I use the grinder bit myself, as I find it leave a smooth finished product. The mini RBA plus though has large wicking holes already though, and I never felt the need to dremel them out...but the v1 occ coils...thats another story!

@dcfluegel I went to coilmaster.net and their kit is close to the same but it has v2s not v3s. I dont know if I want to spend an extra $25 for v3 on top of the $50 for the kit w/ v2s. Wish it came with Kanth and organic cotton like the first one but it does come with a storage container for coils, which is nice. Either way I think the coil master one will be better.

I'm using 26gauge kanthal, parralell wrapped 5 times around a 3.0mm screw driver, comes out to .4ohms and good flavor Idk if that's what's up tho
