Hi!

So I have a bunch of Kanger T2 with 2.2 ohm coils (single top coil long wick). I found the specs and it says that the coil's recommended volt range is 3.5-3.8V. If I set my battery to 3.8V that will only give me 6.5watts... I have a feeling that isn't going to cut it for me :) I find I need a higher watt to satisfy... So my question. If I go past the "recommended" voltage what can happen? Is it dangerous (ie: create harmful vapour) or will it burn coil/wicks or the reduce coil life?

I'd hate to end up with a bunch of coils I can't use!

Any experiences, references, advice?
Thanks!

I used Kanger T2s for the entire summer one year.

You can try pushing the watts a little and see how you go. Chances are, you won't ruin all your coils as you'll try it on one coil and will learn where to stop. If you go up slowly enough, you shouldn't ruin anything really if you are monitoring the taste.

I think the maximum I got up to was about 8 watts on an accurate 'tube mod' (18650) without having some trouble. The wicks are silica, so you can't 'kill' them that easily (like cotton, say) but you will notice dry-hits if you set the vape too strong. Nasty they are and not ideal to inhale, but nobody would try to vape like that for long. :)

Start low and move up gradually.
When it starts to taste bad, adjust back downward.

My wife has been using the T2 for 3+ years (I used them for about 8 months back in 2013). She uses them on everything from egos, isticks, Joyetech VTC mini. Can't get her to use anything else, so I stocked up on about 50 replacement coils. She loves the very easy top fill.

I doubt that I would recommend anything over about 8 watts. (with a 2.2 ohm coil, that would be a max of 4.2 volts). I think my wife runs them at 7-7.5 watts...but she uses 1.8 ohm coils....so that would be around 3.7 volts.

I might add that older devices like the T2 use thin wire...probably 32ga. Many people nowadays use thicker wire which takes high watts to ramp up and get hot. That T2 with thin wire will ramp up and heat in a heart beat...really does not need a lot of wattage. It was kind of made to run at 3.7 volts because that's what everything ran on when those were first on the scene.

I started out with Halo Tritons, which are glorified Kanger T2's. The Halo variable voltage batts can be turned up to 4.8V so I figure that is the maximum.

Another word of advice: If you drill out the tiny air holes on the attys with a 1/16" drill bit, airflow will increase noticeably, which is important when we turn up the voltage. :) {just my experience}

Hope this helps, good luck and happy vaping! ;)
