In some cases, reviews from rookies can be just as useful as those from the veterans. Although I do not possess the comparative criticism and experience as one more knowledgeable, my fresh, new view of products may be useful to those who are new themselves. I will, in this review, go over a few positive and a few negative aspects of the Kanger MT3 "Clearomizer." Since this device came with my kit, it is only natural to assume that over the course of the next few months, other's just stepping into the world of electronic cigarettes may decide to choose or to dismiss the Kanger MT3. I hope my review helps.
Aesthetics:
I definitely like the appeal of the Kanger MT3. Personally, I own the stainless steel, and the product has a very nice look. The weight and feel of the MT3 is also pleasing, giving no sign of cheapness from the exterior. I use the eGo Twist batteries, and the two together create a perfect weight and a sophisticated look.
Durability:
Considering I have only owned this product a mere 4 days, I cannot give anyone a long-term take on durability; however, I can comment on how it has held up as of yet, and also my predictions. I work construction, and keep the MT3 in my pocket at all times. There was one occasion when I pulled it out of my pocket, and noticed that the battery and the Kanger were not in line. I twisted back the threading a bit and quickly re-tightened. I have not noticed this ever again, and I am under the impression that I did not initially tighten the threads completely prior to pocketing the device. As I have uttered earlier, the item has a good weight, and I can see this thing lasting a while. I have not had to replace any of the internal components yet, although, like everything else, I do expect to change the head eventually.
Positive attributes:
The MT3 definitely has one excellent thing going for it - size. Holding between 2.6 mL and 3.0 mL, you should have ample liquid for your work day. Coupled with a 900mah battery, and theoretically, you should be good until you arrive back from your job (disregarding the atomizer going out). The Kanger MT3 has a slightly loose hit, but produces more than enough vapor. I've been hitting it between 3.8 - 4.2 volts and it works like a charm. I will say, however, there tends to be an awkward taste at 4.0 + volts, although this could be attributed to the horrific eliquid I have in tank (Smooth Tobacco).
Negative attributes:
If you like drinking eliquid, the MT3 is definitely for you. Leaks have to be the greatest flaw with this product. Reading other reviews and other experiences, it seems that many encounter the same problem. There are videos that show you how to re-wick and re-coil the MT3 to fix this defect; however, I will not take that into account. Kanger should definitely look into getting this fixed. It seems that every other time I vape, I taste the eliquid in my mouth or tongue. Also, refilling can be a bit tedious, although not overly difficult. Without proper lighting, it can be hard to discern whether your dripper tip is on the edge of the tank or pointed towards the hole. Holding a steady 45 degree angle towards the side is your best bet.
Conclusion:
Overall, I'm torn whether I'd recommend this product to a newbie or not. On one hand, the MT3 holds a vast amount of eliquid, is durable, and looks excellent. On the other, you have the leaking problem. A newcomer, such as myself, may be turned off having eliquid in their mouth and ultimately in their stomach. Fortunately, I chose an iClear 16 as my alternative Clearomizer, and I have not had any leak problems - not to mention, the "RY4" liquid in the iClear, in my opinion, is vastly superior to the "Smooth Tobacco" flavor. If you want a solid Clearomizer that may need some DIY wick and coil modification, the MT3 may be an excellent pick. If you want something that is plug and play, works perfectly out of the box... well, you may be a bit disappointed.
Well, that is all I have for now. If I think of other aspects of the MT3 that I can comment on, I will add it later. Thanks for reading and hopefully it has been insightful.
