My New Years resolution was to quit smoking, and a few of my friends told me pretty much everything I needed to know about e-cigarettes so I decided to purchase a couple of the Kanger Evods. I don't have anything against the Evod, I actually really like how it vaped in the beginning. After about a month of vaping though, I noticed that a couple of my cartomizers were leaking. I don't think it has anything to do with the coils because I changed both of the coils for both of the cartomizers and they are still leaking. I will be honest I have a habit of forgetting they're in my lap and they drop to the floor once I stand up. The reason I believe it's leaking is because I'll go to vape off of the Evod and there's a hard "gurgling" sound as if there's liquid caught in the coil. Sometimes i'll even get some of the e-juice in my mouth after taking a few puffs. When I look at the cartomizer after re-filling and taking a few puffs I'm appalled to see that all the liquid I just put in there is gone. The Evods don't give off much vapor anymore, it's a very tiny amount. vaping the Evod isn't as smooth as it used to be either, it feels like pins and needles in the back of my throat when I exhale or inhale the vapor. Does anyone know what could be causing this, or if there is a way to fix it? I'm purchasing a new model but I was hoping I didn't waste my money on something that only lasted me one month.

Best of luck with your new years resolution.

Before I can give you some stuff to try, some clarification. Are you referring to eVod clearomizer or is it eVod battery with cartomizer top? Does it have small atomizer at the bottom of the tank?
When you are having a leak, is it spilling out of the tank or no sign of drips outside but just the gurgling?
Was it a eVod starter kit? Which comes with fixed 3.7v 650mAh battery.

Ok. For future note, BCC is called "clearomizer", not cartomizer. They are two different types. BCC stands for Bottom coil clearomizer.

First, it is normal to find a few drips of juice on the battery contact. Good to wipe the contact area with Q-tips during each refill.
Bottom coil design uses short wicks to feed the juice into the coil area. Ideally, this should be steady flow of juice just enough for coils to burn the. However, when the flow of juice is either too much or too little, problems happen. Too little juice will result in "dry hits" where you don't get any vapor or flavor. Too much juice will result in gurgling and harsh throat hit.

A few tricks you can try
- Try a brand new atomizer head and see if the problem continues. Kanger atomizer heads are known for poor quality control and so you might have a bad atomizer head.
- One common trick used is flipping the rubber grommet upside down. If you look at the atomizer head carefully, you will see a grommet covering the area where the metal chimney and coil meet. Simple trick is to pull that grommet out and insert it back in upside down. It will look like a bowl shape.
- Try not tightening the atomizer head too hard. When installing the head, tighten it just enough to be snug. There are o-ring at the bottom of the head and you don't want to squash it.
- If you recently changed a juice flavor, try putting the original juice and see if the leak stops. Some juices are very thin and can flood the atomizer head.

Try these first and if you continue to have problem, bump the thread and get further help here.
Good luck.

I've had several evods, but never this problem. A friend did though, I think it ended up being 1 bad coil, and another was a coil with too high of a resistance. If you got it with the kit I wouldn't think this is likely, but check. It should be etched on the head, usually towards the bottom of the head above the contact and white insulator (not the grommet the previous poster told you to flip). It should say 1.8 ohms (omega symbol I think)

i suggest you get a mechanical mod much better believe me

That won't solve a gurgling or leaking clearomiser. The issue is not the battery.

You have not wasted much money. :) Just get a different clearomiser. (what you call the cartomizer)

Just because it is printed on the head, doesn't mean that is what it is. i have taken brand new 1.8's out of a five pack and read 2.9. Only way to know for sure what the res is is to check on a meter.

EVODS are finicky with juices. My EVODS tend to gurgle when I draw to hard, or chain vape. Since adjusting my vape style with EVODS to a couple slow draws every minute or two, I have seen no more issues. On mine I did experience some leakage at the base due to over tightening it. Also be aware that EVOD tanks can crack with some juice. I experienced this first hand also. I never got the clouding or fog some others have had though. IMO EVODS are a great tank to start with, but I quickly moved on to Glass Protank 2 and Anyvape Davide. I have a new Nautilus on it's way now to try. So far, I prefer single coil tanks over dual coils myself though. If you like the form factor of the EVOD tanks, check out the mini versions of the ones I just mentioned. They both use the same coil heads as the EVOD too.

Total respect to that! :)

I'm sure this is related to the qc issues mentioned by others. I've never pulled out the meter on the pre made heads from kanger, but I've never really experienced this problem.

I agree that you may want to change your draw style. Light pulls for sure. If you don't like pulling lighter, try the pro tank mini 2, it's got a much looser draw. In any case, you shouldn't be sucking on it too hard. As I understand it, the idea is to pull so air runs over the coil as it heats up so it can generate the vapor, wick the juice, and not get too hot. There are other things at play here too, such as the vacuum mentioned by others, bull to hard and you are pulling faster than the coil can keep up with. On tanks with looser draws this becomes less of a problem because you are getting more air with each pull, keeping you from creating the extra pressure in he tank.
That said this is just my understanding. I have no training that would make me a professional in this area, it's just based on forums and reviews. I could be COMPLETELY wrong :)
