Kanger coil heads out of the package are all over the resistance map. Most all read above stated resistance, some are dead shorts out of the package and others ohm out way high. I had a 5-pack of 1.5 ohm heads that all metered out at 2.2 ohms+. So, I have been practicing my coil building techniques on them.
I am trying to get a 1.5 ohm resistance from my single coil rebuilds using 28g Kanthal A-1. The online calculators are telling me to wrap @10 times, but, by the time the coil is installed into the Kanger head, resistance shoots up to 1.8-2.2 ohms. I am guessing the Kanger head is adding some additional resistance.
Any of you experienced coilers provide a few tips?
