I purchased a joyetech emode 2 weeks ago, together with an additional tank.

The device has never worked well at all. It gets very hot, gurgles very often and liquid seems to come up through the mouthpiece in many occasions.
I hooked up the device via the USB cable to my Mac today, and a message from the MVR software popped up saying that the firmware needs updating. I clicked on OK, and a few seconds later a confirmation message appeared.
The device now shows 2 leds and I cannot get it to power on or off. Have searched for info on the joyetech website but absolutely nothing to be found regarding instructions to set factory defaults...etc

The device is now useless. After investing 150€ in the whole setup I have only been able to use it for less than 2 weeks, during which many problems with overheating and gurgling occurred.

I am going to email Joyetech with the hope that I get a solution, but am not counting on them since I already emailed them a few days ago asking them where to buy accessories and they never answered. I don´t envision they might answer their support email if they don´t answer their sales.

Did you try to turn it off and off again? :)

It sounds like the firmware update went wrong. Maybe the usb connection broke during update or something. Can you still use it with the software? Update the firmware again?
You could try something like pressing the button really long, connecting the akku while pressing it down, leaving the akku disconnected for a while. But likely the controller is bricked and needs to be send in.

You should still have 2 month warranty from your Joyetech distributor or normal vendor warranty depending on where you live (2 years for me). Sucks to have to send stuff in but that's what warranty is there for.

In the worse case you could buy a new controller separately but it's quite expensive.

Or you could use the vaporizer itself on any VV mod akku.

PS: I just saw in a video that the eMode comes with a warning in the box:
"Only have your eMode updated via MVR V1.4 (for eMode) or higher version!"
Maybe you used the outdated eVic software and flashed an old version of the firmware on it?
If so, better not tell your vendor when you send it back ;)

The same exact thing happened to me as the person below! I am really upset. The lights will not go off. I have tried taking the battery out and leaving out for awhile and also long pressing the button. Nothing works. It is completely useless.

As Ebates said that should rest the unit.

the gurgeling and over heat the coil is a main issue with the emode. The coils are having 2.4 ohm which is a way to high resistance. They don't last long and having a burning taste to it. I replaced the entire head. I'm using the KANGO aerotank which works so much better. And the nice side effect the replacement coils are about € 2 instead the € 5 for the original emode crap.

Forget to complain by Joyetech they never answer, they even erased my "review" straight away after sending. One thing is sure for me, NEVER EVER ONE JOETECH product again.
