Itaste SVD ohm setting question

I recently started vaping and I have bought, well the wife actually bought it for me, the Itaste SVD. And I have a couple questions about the ohms it can use and what settings to follow. I started with a hand me down mod from a friend that worked well. It was the Bolt mech mod and he told me what he knew about it. He rebuilt a couple heads for me and they were around 1.1 ohms to 1.5 ohms. with the Bolt I didn't worry about anything. But, now that i have this Itaste SVD I want to get to know the mod and adjust it as needed for the quality I have read about. My first question is the ohms that can be used with this mod. I have several different forum postings listing anything from 0.9 ohms to 2.5 ohms or higher. Second, with variable wattage and voltage. What do these settings do? And third, what is double stacking. Two batteries? What is the benefit? Any answers that you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.

With my SVD the instructions read Load Ohms range 0-9.9 not sub ohms of 0.9 . I accidently put a sub ohm on and got a " NON" reading. I had built a I go w sub ohm for my Magneto and put it on the SVD. As far a stacking, I don't know, I just use IMR 18650 that last me all day vape. Hope this help, I am sure someone will answer about stacking, I hope so, would like to know myself

I have an 18650 also and it lasts a couple day on my bolt and figure it will last about that long on the SVD. I would like to know more about the voltage and wattage settings. I did a little tinkering with the wattage and found that the higher wattage I use, 12 watts, during a chain vape session the smoke got warm then I noticed the tank was getting warm and finally the connection area to the mod. The manual states that using the double stack method will give you the "full range". So, I hope someone can give some advice as to how that works.

I've fired as low as .9Ω on an SVD. I think it can go to .8Ω but haven't tried it.
It seems to have the same issue with a single 18650 as the Vamo has.
The benefit of stacking in a Vamo or SVD (it seems) is that somewhere before 5v with a single battery it doesn't give the voltage you set. With stacking it gives the voltage all the way to 6v.
Whether you'd need to stack with 1.0Ω, probably not. A dual coil 1Ω works for me with a single battery. But a dual coil 1.5Ω needs stacking for me.

The difference between variable wattage and voltage goes back to Ohm's law. I wont bring out the math, but compare it to a car moving down the road. Now, you can manually apply the pedal to get to your desired speed in every situation (i.e. going up a hill you'd have to apply more gas to maintain speed), or you could use cruise control. Cruise control as you know automatically adjusts your gas pedal to keep you at the speed your set at. Variable wattage is like cruise control. You find the Wattage you want, and no matter what resistance atomizer you screw onto your SVD, it will automatically adjust the volts it fires to give you the desired wattage you want. P(Watts) = V^2(volts) / R(resistance) (Guess I kinda brought it out). That is what the computer does in variable wattage mode. It basically is intended to recreate the same vaping experience that you desire, no matter what you put on there. No more manual adjustments everytime. Hope this helped. :)

Yea its all preference really. You can get an idea of the kind of vape a certain wattage will give you though by looking at that little formula. If you're set at 12W with a 3 ohm coil, you would get a firing voltage of 6V. If you're set at 12W with a 1.5 ohm coil, you would get a voltage of 4.24V. Because a 3 ohm coil is more resistant to electricity flow than 1.5, more volts need to be put through that coil in order to achieve the 12W.

So stacking is more for volts? Not watts?

Can't have one without the other.

The way a Vamo works is your setting limit is 6v OR 15w depending on what the screen is set to adjust, with an ultimate limiter of 5a. The way an eVic works is no matter what mode it's in you are limited to 5v AND 11w, which ever comes first, with an ultimate limiter of 2.5a or 3a (I forget which).
I think the SVD works like the Vamo but I'm not sure.

Assuming the SVD does work like a Vamo if I have it in wattage mode with a 1.5Ω dual my voltage is limited to 4.74v because I can only set it to 15w on the screen. If I go to volts mode I can set it to 6v which is 24w and 4a. Because I like my 1.5Ω dual at 5v I have to use the voltage mode to get there.

I'm not sure the SVD is the same way because I mainly use a 2.2Ω on it (because that gennie fits best). I've only put a 1.3Ω and 1.0Ω dual RDA on it and stacked in it for testing to see what volts I need with those heads and whether I'd rather have another Vamo or SVD (probably the SVD because of the lower Ω ability). My dual RBA 1.5Ω is the only one I need the higher volts on and it fits best on a Vamo.

I used wattage mode when I was using Vivi-Nova and Protanks. I'd have a bunch of heads wrapped that varied in Ω. Wattage mode would make the vape from a 1.8Ω-2.2Ω wrap extremely similar. Now I've gone to all rebuildables where the coils last longer. When the Ω change it's because of a short, which is a hot spot and automatically changing the voltage in wattage mod isn't going to make up for it. So now I mainly use voltage mode.

PBusardo did a good review on the SVD to help explain a little better. His reviews are kind of long so if you check him out on youtube make sure you have some free time. I am currently using the SVD with a protank II and a Kanger T3S. I quit messing with the volts, I left it at 3.4 and I just adjust watting to flavor. If I chain vape I might need to go up or down on the wattage to get the taste I want. It is a bit of a hassle to play with the voltage and wattage to find that perfect spot, just to switch tanks and have to start over.
