isopropyl alcohol for cleaning?

From what I have read you should not use isoproyl unless its like the really high content stuff (i think 90% or higher). The 70% isnt that good. I would use everclear if you can, but since they dont make the good stuff anymore you have to let the stuff soak for a bit. I also have a shaker that I would agitate my stuff that was soaking.

if you do you use isopropyl then I dont know how long you should let it soak BUT....... you should not vape from anything that still has isopropyl on it in liquid form. If you can still smell it then dont vape it.

tanks can be cleaned with hot water. never used a clearomizer, and the cartos never really seemed to get back to their original function like reg atomizers do, but again they will hold the alcohol so blow them out and let them drain and dry for at least 30 hours.

it also helped mine to place them on the mantle above the fire where the air was less humid.

I've only used isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip for cleaning the battery connection where the 510 thread is that the carto/atty screws onto. I've never used it to clean out tanks, etc. For that I"ve always just used water. Once my Provari wouldn't work and the ohms on everything kept saying 1.3. When I looked it up the site said to pour some isopropyl alcohol in the battery tube, swoosh it around some, and drain it, then let it dry overnight before using it again. I was scared to death to do it but I did it and it worked! :) I wouldn't use it on cartomizers/clearos or tanks. I wouldn't think you should vape any residue from it, but maybe I'm wrong. The only other thing I've used in cleaning stuff is pure grain alcohol on atomizers and even denture cleaner on atomizers, but found it didn't really help much.

I never use it to clean my vaping stuff. The only thing I use it for is cleaning off battery, carto connections. Some agree some disagree. When I was young they use to keep the thermomerters in a bottle of it, then stuff it in our mouths. I think it's their fault I'm like this. Hummmmm maybe I could get some money outta that one. NOT. It's not pure. I only use 190 proof grain alchohol for cleaning and then a good hot bath.

I use attys on my REOmini, and I clean them with 91% iso. Soak for about 30 minutes then immediatly flush with a warm water rinse. Then blow out excess water by blowing down through atty and let dry overnight. I've been doing that for about five months and I haven't grown a third eye or had any appendeges fall off yet. For my T3's I disassemble, rinse and dryburn two or three times and reassemble with new wicks about once a week. But I'm sure there are other ways to go about cleaning your equipment.

Do not clean old carto's and atties with anything.
False myth. Atties can be cleaned/soaked in Vodka then dried/blown off dry burned and reused. Carto's can be cleaned as well, and will get cleaner with a soak in Vodka. Afterward they need to be rinsed or boiled, then left out to dry for several days.

For my clearomizer coil head/wicks i soak them in Vodka in a pill bottle. The clearomizer housings i rinse with hot water. After the coil head/wicks have soaked in vodka for a day ( or whenever i get back to them) i pull them from the vodka bath, dry them with a vaper towel. Then i dry burn the coil and put it aside for the next time it is needed.

I have successfully pulled coil head/wick assembly's from the vodka bath, dried it off, dry burned the coil and installed right away with no ill effects.

i use iso, but i work in a lab so its 98%, i wouldn't recommend the consumer grade 70% ish, it also has other junk in it usually.

just get a cheap bottle of 100 proof or better vodka, unless you can get your hands on 190 PGA like we did in kentucky. anyways the higher the proof the better it will clean.

I use iso at 70% or 91%.
IMPORTANT: look at the ingredients. They should only say iso and distilled water. If acetone or anything else is in it don't use.

I feel safe using it, but would use PGA instead if that was an option for me. There may be a slight risk using iso, so use at your own discretion. I use it to soak my atties every few days. After a soak I blow it out good and add pg, vg, or ejuice to the coil and store it sealed until next use. When taken out I blow out the primer juice I stored it in and haven't noticed any odd taste left on it. I really wouldn't use it on a carto tho, and use PGA instead if that's an option.

Wow......there are several videos, and hundreds of comments on how to clean your equip for vaping.....I am 6 weeks into vaping.....love it, I recently got an Ego-t model..with vaping (apposed to analogs) there will be an ongoing expense of replacement parts...(batteries, atomizers...and of course juices)....or we can just try to clean our parts the best we can to give them a longer life.....Im thinking just hot water rinsing cleans most things.....if you do it regularily.....all this talk of vodka, and the percentage of Alcohol, just gives me a headache......and the worst is you have to pay 8 bucks for a new atty?.....

Yep, all of this is very optional. For the batts and chargers you'll want to wipe out any eliquid, but I only do the iso cleaning every month or two. Atties can work well for quite a while with just a simple blowing them out as needed. How long before they start gunking up depends on the juice. I've started the alcohol cleaning with my atties to extend the performance, I find it pretty quick and easy and do it every few days. I do the cleaning method suggested by Hanna who makes the HH357 atties (for a $22 atty there's def more insentive for maintainance.) Cartos I use sparingly and use clean juices with so I don't worry about cleaning, just toss after couple months. Honestly, even if I only used cartos I wouldn't take the time to clean since they're only $1 each. I do kind of enjoy my every month or two ritual of iso cleaning all my ecig parts getting them all shiny and clean.

General rule use 90-99 % iso as it has less water you can also use it to clean the electronic contacts. Most of the stuff is like 70%. Use to be and Electronics tech we bought some that was like 99%. Hard to find though. 90% will do. If you use Iso to clean attys make sure you wash them or let them dry vaping Iso is not good for you. LOL.

Thanks for all the replys and info guys. The iso I have is 91 percent and no asitone in it. Think I might give it a shot for the wicks and coils of my rebuildable clearos, but I think rinseing it with water after is a good idea. I don't know why I put cartomizers in the list of things I was asking if it was okay to clean with iso.... because everyone is right, there so damn cheap you should just throw them away when they get gunked up.

I've been looking for everclear, but have been having trouble finding it around where I live. People even look at my like I'm crazy when I ask for it. I need to ask some of my buddys that drink (I don't drink much anymore) if they know where to get some.

What about regular 80 proof vodka? You think that is stronger than 91 percent iso?
