Travel and Vaping Is United Airline....

So my fiance and I decided to go to Hawaii for our honeymoon !

Now I know there are some airlines that supports vaping, some don't. We're planing on taking united airline from San Fran.... is there going to be any hassel of me taking my liquids and e-cig with me? can I vape on the plane?

Don't know about vaping on United, but it's the TSA that decides what you can take on the plane. They have not taken any gear that I'm aware of. You can take it with you for sure. Someone else might be able to tell you about actually using it on the plane.

I hate to say it, but this is not quite the way it is. But you are correct... partially.

There is only one airline that I know of that allows open vaping, and even then I have only seen it on one flight. And thats Ryan Air, a low cost carrier based in Ireland.

Many US carriers are prohibiting the use of ecigs onboard, and duely state in their inflight magazine, or safety demo. Who knows... remember when they started taking the "No smoking" sings out and replacing them with "No electronics" signs? Maybe we will begin to start seeing "No vaping" placards...lol

The fact is, most flight attendants (Myself included) could care less if you are vaping... as long as you are not causing a scene amongst other passengers. Meaning go stealth or vape carefully in the lav.. There are many posts regarding this.

Please be warned- Be careful when stealthing and have your technique mastered! One tickle in the throat causing a coughing up of a vapor cloud might land you with some explaining to do to a ...... flight attendant. (And we have all experienced the charming personalities of some of these crew) *Sarcasm*

Also, when vaping in the lav- Please hold your vape a little longer than usual, and then exhale downward to the floor. Those smoke detectors are very sensitive and will indeed go off when toyed with. In effect potentially creating a lot of paperwork for me at the end of a flight. And oh how I loathe paperwork!

Just dont make a spectacle, and enjoy your flight! You will be just fine.

RIA is correct, I just arrived in Munich yesterday, flew Lufthansa. This trip had Ms PTJD next to me me so vaped like a Mad man! Of course did not blow smoke rings or flaunt it to get any attention. Will be on United out of Brussels coming back.

Nothing like a after dinner vape!

I flew Northwest from Memphis to Mn/St Paul to San Diego a few months ago and vaped without a problem.

I was not conspicuous about it, but did not have any problem. Several FA were aware and said nothing.

If any fellow passengers smelled anything, they probably thought I was eating red hots. lol

Hey RIA!!! going to Lyon in the morning then drive to Geneva. Will be in the Beaune (Burgundy) region for 3 days. Fly to Paris next Sunday, buy you a beer if you can make it!!!

I took a trip to MI, stealth vaped the whole way. My 2 kids didn't even notice. Much to my analog-smoking wife's envious concerns. It was the best flying experience I've ever had!

LOL the three of us all in Germany at the same time. Ahhhh this country will never be the same!!!

DUS could have been an option, of course crew sched called me this AM an is sending me to Kuwait later. *Shudder* It was 138F there a few days ago!

I just flew United. I asked the FA about using an e-cig. One checked with the captain, who recommended against it. The other got the rule book which clearly stated no e-cigs. I did not vap on the plane. No problems getting it through security (put the liquids in a quart ziplock)
