Is it safe to use the vaporesso revenger (built in batteries) and the vaporesso revenger mini (lights up) after owing it for three years? It seems to have kept 3/4 battery charge and I have not used them in a year and a half. I ask because I’ve read older batteries can be dangerous to use if they have low voltage or something.

Also is it safe to use Sony lithium ion batteries after 2 1/2 years? Their volts was at 3.6 when I started charging them. I haven’t used them in a year and a half, but I did charge them once during the year. Using them in arrow sense mod.

Personally, it wouldn't bother my to use either one. If the built-in battery mod lit right up, its battery did not go below the generally accepted 2.5V threshold where bad things happen to them.

Sony batteries: I'm still using some VTC5s in my nightstand / breakfast device that were manufactured in January of 2014 and I bought them later than year. When they were in service for two years, I was debating replacing them, but they still worked well, so I decided to see how long they would keep working well and here we are, five years after that. Note: This should not be read to imply that they've been in continuous use all that time; they haven't, and even when they are in "continuous use", they only get charged every 5 days on average.

Being asked 'is it safe' always makes me cringe. There's not much about vaping that's inherently safe, especially when you're dealing with batteries. It would certainly be safER to replace them, but honestly, I'd probably be willing to use them myself.

What model batteries are the Sony's?

It is true that:
  • A battery's voltage will drop over time, even if it isn't used.
  • If it drops too low, the battery becomes unsafe to use and it's a bad idea to try it.
However, it has to drop to under something like 2.4v (I can't remember exactly, but it's that or lower) to really become a problem, and 3.6v and 3/4 charged are both well above that.

Does your charger show mAh? If so, you might want to check the results for a full charge to get an idea of how much capacity the Sony's have lost. If they're well below where they started, it's an indication that various forms of aging have occurred and they shouldn't be used.

Here's the summary:
The bad low voltage thing hasn't happened. While other forms of aging have occurred, we don't really know how much. People often use batteries that are several years old. I can't promise they're safe, although I'd probably use them if they were mine. The choice is up to you.

Here they are charging and here are the vaporesso mods. I never did use them a whole lot tbh. Like 1 week out of a month at most. Then quit for 5 months. Continue.

The revenger is a dual 18650 mod, not built-in batteries.

3.5-3.6 volts is a good voltage to store them at. You should be fine. If the Sony batteries being old bother you, then replace them.

the vaporesso revenger mini (lights up)

I wouldn't worry about the revenger mini personally.

the revenger go is what it’s called. It’s built in. Check photo

Ya sorry I didn’t use them in so long I forgot

yeah, the revengers all look the same lol. That Go looks just like the Revenger X. In fact it appears they're the same mod, only diff being that the Go is the internal battery version of the X.

I would vape them. :vapor:

Here they are charging
At 2600 mAh, they should be VTC5s or VTC5As. Excellent batteries.

That's a very good charger too. It's not real heavy on features, but higher quality than most, and having it show you the voltage is nice.

Pro-tip with VP1, VP2, or VP4 charges: Unplug them when not in use. Leaving them plugged in with the display powered up will wear out their displays -- they'll get dimmer and dimmer until they're near impossible to read in bright light. Here's a pic of two that were both acquired in 2014:

The pic itself was taken ~2 years ago.

The one on the right was used a lot and left plugged in. It's not obvious in that pic because it was taken in low light, but that display is unreadable in bright light.

The one on the left was a spare that hadn't been used at all up to that point and the display is "bright as new".

I'm still using an iStick 30w which I got for Xmas 2015; some of my 18650s are now 4 years old. Before Brexit when I spent six months at a time in Spain I didn't take all of my gear with me so it sat unused in the UK for that time and it has all worked fine.

I'm locked down the east of the country and have been for 4 months now - I have two Coolfire Minis in my other house on the West Coast plus a couple of Innokin Sceptres there, all with internal batteries ... and when I can get back to them I'll plug them all in to top up the charges and will use them.

I have to say though I'm not a sub ohmer and most of my internal battery devices have never been used at more than 8 watts.

But do you think those are real Sonys? I never owned sony batts but seems odd an OEM would have such printing on the wraps like that.
That's not printing. That's a transparent sticker showing the nominal voltage and capacity. They're quite common, and I'm pretty sure ever Sony/Murata cell I've gotten has had one on it when I received it.
