Aluminum being soft is a myth. Yes, there are "soft" grades of aluminum, but there are also grades with a hardness approaching that of carbon steel. Google "structural aluminum grades" to see what I'm about.
What the clone (
fasttech et al) tubes are made of, I can't say... and I've not seen any adds that identify the specific grade of aluminum. Considering the typical cost is 1/4th that of genuine Atmomixani tubes... you're not "breaking the bank" to feed your curiosity.
The only thing you need to look for, because anodizing functions as a electrically resistive surface treatment, is that the
threaded portion is not anodized.
I recall a
thread concerning a batch of clone tubes (from who, where and what color I don't know) that were anodized on all (including internal threaded and contact) surfaces... and
that anodizing would need to be removed to provide adequate conductivity.
