Hello and welcome back for another review, today's review comes to me from innokin and as the title says it's on the Sceptre Tube. The Sceptre Tube is the next evolution of the popular Sceptre device and the Sceptre Tube still uses the 0.5Ω coil and has 2 power levels as the original did ( 18w and 20w ) and also can use the 1.2Ω coil as well. The Tube device is pretty close to the original Sceptre but there are differences that I will cover in the review.

    INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

My first impression was on the color, I really like the color gradient on both devices with the White one being my favorite of the 2 of them, also having a matt paint finish means no fingerprints to worry about.

Picking up the devices I noticed that although not heavy there was a nice solid weighty feel being right in the middle of light or heavy.

Next thing that I checked out was if the 510 drip tip is able to be changed out for some of your favorites if you have some and yes it is changeable. I also have to tell you that the Pod/Tank is tinted, not so far as to not being able to see your juice level in a low lighted room but it is difficult, I would have liked a clear or very lightly tinted pod instead.

Being a 2ml Pod/Tank you will be filling it quite often so keep an eye on your juice level. As most Pods do this also connects to the device magnetically and it's connection is solid. 4 magnets are used on the pod for a secure hold. Before you can use the device a protective sticker must be removed from the pre-installed coil in the Pod/Tank, Innokin placed the sticker there to prevent the device from accidental firing during shipping, once the protective sticker is removed prime the coil with 1 or 2 drops of juice and reseat the coil into the Pod/Tank all the way.

Most Pod styled devices utilize a silicone rubber fill plug located on the bottom or side of the Pod that needs to be pulled open in order to fill with juice then plugged back in after filling, over time the constant pulling on the silicone rubber can stress it to the point of breaking.

Thankfully Innokin did not opt for this type of filling method and went with a sliding top cap on the Pod/Tank, being a 2ml Pod/Tank you will be filling it quite often so that's a time saver and is much easier way of filling.

At the top of the Pod/Tank the Innokin name is imprinted on one side, this is the side that pushed to open the Pod/Tank for filling, because it is black the Innokin name blends in with the Pod/Tank making it difficult to see, I would have liked the Innokin name to be painted in white or have a arrow or dot painted in white making it easier to see the opening spot, also I would have liked to see a silicone filling membrane that seals back closed after filling inside the fill port instead of just a open fill hole.

Having a sealing membrane in the fill port prevents any juice from leaking if the top cap slides open in a pocket while carrying, in the many days of testing I have not had this happen but the top cap slides very easily without much force so pay attention while carrying.

I want to let anyone that hasn't used a S-coil before to remember to take off the airflow control cap that screws on the bottom of the coil, it's reusable and must be on the coil in order for it to operate. You are only supplied with 1 in the kit so don't forget to unscrew it from your old coil and screw it on your new coil when doing a coil change.

Controlling the airflow is done by simply turning the Pod/Tank in either direction to fine tune it to your airflow preference, the Pod/Tank spins freely 360° having no hard stops at either end. Again being black in color can make it difficult to fine tune with the Pod/Tank installed on the device in low light settings.

The Sceptre Tube can be used a a MTL device with a loose MTL draw, I changed out the drip tip to one of my own with a much narrower bore than the stock drip tip supplied and found it tightened up nicely and provided a very good semi-tight MTL vape but I think it's more suited for a DL or RDL vape with the stock drip tip.

Moving down to the device itself shows a nice clean look with only 2 branding spots that are very lightly printed on it, with gradient color done very well. The Sceptre Tube is just the right size in not only diameter but also length with it's fire button being placed at the best spot on the device. The Sceptre uses a lighted button that when pressed twice will switch between 2 power levels with colors for each level. I found very little difference between both power levels but I seem to prefer the higher level of 20 watts over the 18 watt power level. After each vape the power button will flash twice displaying the percentage strength of the battery using 3 different colors for each percentage.

It's hard to judge comfort on a tube device except for placement of the fire button which I said is in the best location on the device, too low and it feels awkward firing it, too high and the airflow can be compromised by blocking part of it with a finger especially if thumb firing. On the other side of the device is the type-c charge port placed a little lower than the fire buttons position, you may not think much about placement location of a charge port but on a tube device being too high or too low can cause a tip over, the Sceptre's charge port is also in a perfect spot on the tube.

    FINAL IMPRESSIONS

    20220331_134638.jpg

I have enjoyed using the Sceptre Tube in the many days of testing it, the performance even exceeded my expectations, first off I have to say flavor from the S-Coil is very good and I know the 2 juices very well that were used in testing the Sceptre Tube.

Having a sliding top cap is a real pleasure as opposed to having a silicone gasket plug that will fail over time with repeated pulling on it. I just wish the silicone gasket used to line the fill port had a sealing membrane on it, especially because the sliding top cap opens very easily and if it had the sealing membrane I wouldn't have to worry about a accidental opening while carrying in a pocket although I never had it happen to me while testing.

The Sceptre Pod/Tank has a capacity of 2mls and it disappears rather quickly when chain vaping so pay extra attention to your juice level.

During testing I tried another drip tip with a much narrower bore and found using it as a MTL Pod/Tank worked out great, using the stock drip tip for MTL I felt it was too wide open for me and my style of vape on a MTL setup, using it as a RDL or DL the vape was really good, I preferred the airflow wide open using it in this manner.

I mentioned it earlier and did a illustration showing you the airflow cap that is reused on all coils, ( DO NOT THROW THIS OUT WITH YOUR OLD COIL ) it is the only one supplied in the box and must be used on all coils for the coil to work so don't forget to unscrew it off your old coil and screw it on your new coil.

One other thing that impressed me was the battery management of the 1300mAh internal battery on this device, it's really good and although you probably won't get a entire day of vaping on 1 charge but depending on you vape habits it is pretty close.

I hope the couple of cons I mentioned earlier are addressed on future devices because it is in Innokin's best interest, besides the cons are not make or break issues but rather tweak's that would improve a very nice device. I would like to thank Anna and Innokin for providing the Sceptre Pod kits for the purpose of this review and I also hope the information I provided was useful and that you enjoyed my review.

    THANK YOU

The sliding top cap is so much easier and saves time plus it's mess free.
100% agree. Been seeing top fills that "break away" to refill, snapping in half, lol. I figured it was only a matter of time before we started seeing this.

    Nice quick and dirty review.

Thanks for the review, BB! I like this new tube Sceptre, but I already own a bunch of the old flat ones that I love. Is this tube one significantly better or just different shape/fill port?
I enjoy using it because of the flavor the coils produce but tube styled devices are always a issue for me because of the button ( finding it ) without looking, but I have no trouble with the Sceptre Tube, one thing that I forgot to mention in the cons was the lack of a Auto-draw feature which would solve the issue. The battery management is very good as well. Regarding the fill port, it works great but very easy to open. I haven't had a spill yet though.

Thanks. I love my flat Sceptres and if the quality of vape is similar to the tube-shaped ones, I'm fine with what I have. I never cared for tub-shaped mods, in general. Always preferred box mods, anyway. Jut fit better in my hand.
