Hi everyone,

New to vaping... 5 weeks of success so far and in general, loving it!

The problem I have is the coils. My 1st coil lasted 2 weeks of regular use, the 2nd lasted around 10 days, the 3rd however has lasted less than 2 days and I am already getting the dreaded burnt taste. I am not using it any different, I am keeping the tank topped up so it doesn't dry out and I am also buying official coils from the same retailer.

Any ideas what is going wrong here?

Cheers,

Graham

Gosh... I can sense the frustration.
Innokin make some good coils, but there is something in the design (we saw it in the iClear30S) which sometimes causes premature burny tastes. Most folk call it quality control. I think it's something to do with a silicone grommet in the 'cartridge' assembly.
We used to clean (soak) the iClear heads when they had Silica wicks. I'm not sure you can do this with the new ones. You'd take the offending one out, put in a fresh one and re-try the dodgy one later down the road. If I was being honest, I fear the hit rate (of the bad ones) could have been as much as 1/10.

Incidentally, have you considered buying a job lot from China? Fasttech used to sell those types of coils.

Have you changed your juice? I have some juices that will gunk a coil in 15-20ml and other juices that do not gunk the coil after 50ml+.

I suspect the 3rd coil was just a dud.

I didn't see what type of tank and coils that you are using.

If it is one of the earlier generation tanks, the replacement coils can have quality control issues. Even though replacement coils are called "factory made", they are still largely made by hand in the thousands.

Later generation tanks seem to be better -- their coils are larger and use better wick material (cotton instead of silica string).

I moved on from Innokin iClear 30's (not bad) to using a newer generation Aspire Nautilus tank (much better) and got much better results. Today I'm using a Uwell Crown tank and its even better (but being that it uses only sub-ohm coils, you need a high wattage regulated mod). I get about a month's use with its factory-made coils.

I believe he is using the T22 starter kit which includes a T22 Mod (non-VW, internal battery) and a Prism T22 tank/clearomizer. The mod fires at 14w while using a 1.5ohm coil.

I was planning on getting one of those myself based on the great reviews of the t18. It's pretty much like an old carto, soak really well, let it sit, and start vaping @ low watts.

I have purchased 3 of the T22 starter kits for family members trying to quit smoking, and they are great devices. My family really likes how simple and reliable they are.
