► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Introduction:
I still remember the excitement in 2021 when I received the first version of Coolfire Mod with external 18650 battery, and now for my joy, Innokin sent me for this test the new 2025 version called Coolfire Z80 Nex, always with external 18650 battery and 80W of maximum power. The form factor and dimensions of the new Coolfire are very similar to those of the original project, the style and finishes are always of a good level, as well as the weight that remains very low in favor of excellent handling. However, overall Innokin has introduced some improvements on this Kit; one of these is the possibility of purchasing two different and refined tanks, one with lower AFC (Zenith M) and one with upper AFC (Zenit Nex). Both of these tanks are equipped with a comfortable upper refill and use the famous "Z coils" platform. Other new features include a comfortable sliding lock switch and the new lateral arrangement of the "+ and -" adjustment buttons.

► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; External 18650 battery:
The bottom of the mod has a screw cap with a convenient lever that can be lifted to help the user in the opening/closing phase. There are also; 4 vent holes for the cell that are useful for safety in case the battery should unfortunately vent. The threading of the compartment/battery and the cap are of high quality just like those of the original model. The cap has the negative polarity indication inside, on the bottom of the compartment/battery the positive polarity is indicated.

► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Side view:
The Coolfire Z80 Nex intelligently maintains a "Tube" form factor with a protruding appendage towards the front, all this offers excellent handling, which has been widely tested and appreciated by many users around the world over the years. The look is very reminiscent of the "Ehpro cold steel" but Coolfire Z80 Nex is much smaller and lighter in this respect. To divide the space between the leather insert of the handle and between the side frame of the display, there is a metal plate (present on both sides) this plate is screwed to the mod with two screws and on one side we find the writing "Innokin" above it, while on the other side we find the adjustment buttons "+ and -" above it.

► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Rear and Front View:
The back is round in section to comfortably accommodate the palm of the hand, this surface is covered with a soft insert that in this version is smooth and reflective as if it were polished metal. Judging by the images; the other versions instead seem to adopt an insert more similar to worked leather or suede. All versions have a "Z80 NEX" writing on the handle flanked by two parallel seams. The front of the mod adopts a protruding and thinned profile. The dark colored screen takes up almost all the available space and incorporates; the fire button, the display, the quick lock/unlock button, and the USB-C charging socket. The Fire button is round, protruding and easily reachable by the fingers, the quick lock/unlock button is located under the display. The color display is large and bright, the fonts are enlarged and easy to read. From top to bottom the display shows the following information; working mode, battery indicator, set power, puff duration, coil resistance, puff counter, volts.

Operating guide: to turn on/off the Mod, just click the Fire button 3 times. To Lock/Unlock the Mod, of course, you just have to move the slider to the side. With the locked position set, the Mod cannot fire and the functions are locked. In the unlocked position, you can adjust the power by pressing the "+" and "-" buttons together, then the value flashes, now you can move 0.5W at a time between 6 and 20W, while you can move 1W at a time between 20 and 80W, this double solution allows you to finely adjust your MTL Vaping between 6 and 20W. To access the secondary menu, press the "-" button and the Fire button together. In the secondary menu, you can adjust the cut-off time (3-18s) and the time-out (5-180s) as you like. To access the information, press the "+" button and the Fire button together, the display shows the battery level, battery voltage, current coil resistance, user puff counter with the possibility of resetting it and returning to the main interface.

    ► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Thread 510:
Of course at the top we find the cup with thread 510 and the spring-loaded gold-plated pin. The cup is slightly raised and this avoids causing scratches to the body during the screwing/unscrewing phase of the tank. Coolfire Z80 Nex is able to accommodate atomizers with a maximum diameter of 26mm without protrusions.

► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Zenith M Tank:
The design of Zenith M Tank changes radically compared to the previous Zenith II which had a glass protection cage. Unlike some previous creations, the Zenith M Tank is completely removable for thorough periodic cleaning of its components. For the MTL or RDL setting, two different coils and 2 different specific Drip-Tips are included in the kit.

To facilitate the grip of the tank, the ergonomic knurling at the bottom of the AFC adjustment ring and at the top of the Top-Cap have been maintained.
The air regulation is identical to that of the Zenith-2 with 2 large opposing slots of 13x2mm each. This solution is suitable for use in RDL especially with the 0.3Ω RDL Z-Coil. For MTL vaping, an AFC regulation is provided via 3 small holes that seems identical to that of the Zlide Tank also by Innokin.

The opening system for refueling is a rotation to remove the top-cap. The filling port is protected by a silicone membrane that prevents e-liquid overflows. The tank does not have a liquid block, however by turning it upside down it is possible to replace the resistance when the liquid level does not exceed 3/4 of the total capacity. Once the base is unscrewed you can pull to extract the Z-coil or you can push to insert a new Z-Coil.

    ► Innokin Z-Coil Platform:
This wide range of resistors was created with the collaboration of P.Busardo and Vapingreek. In fact, the Zenith M Tank supports the use of all eight Innokin Z-Coil options.

    MTL:
    • 0.6Ω (9-13w)
    • 0.48Ω (12-16w)
    • 0.5Ω (12-16w)
    • 0.8Ω (14-17w) Included in the Coolfire Z80 Nex Kit
    • 1.2Ω (10-14w)
    • 1.6Ω (10-14w)

    RDL:
    • 0.3Ω (30-40w) Included in the Coolfire Z80 Nex Kit
    • 1.0Ω (20-25w)

► Innokin Coolfire Z80 Nex; Vaping Test & Final Conclusions:
For the test of the 0.3Ω RDL Z-Coil 30-40W Range I used Crispy Puft and set the power to 35W with AFC completely open. The flavor is really good with a high RDL yield, in fact you can produce dense clouds of vapor, and the Tank does not heat up and does not spit. Before using the 0.8Ω MTL Z-Coil with Range 15-18W I thoroughly washed the tank and inserted a hazelnut e-juice setting the power to 16W. With the AFC positioned above the 3 small holes I obtained an aromatic MTL shot, rather airy. With two holes selected; the puff narrows but remains fairly airy. Using the AFC with a single open hole, or by completely closing the ring; the puffs take on very connotations and loaded with hits, perfect for MTL. You can really find your optimal way of vaping with the precise air regulation and with the 2 different specific Drip-Tips that are supplied in the kit. I immediately thought that this Coolfire Z80 Nex Kit was interesting for MTL/RDL users, and it really is, thanks to the adoption of an 18650 cell that allows the use of the Mod even with medium/high powers without giving up good autonomy from morning to night. Coolfire Z80 Nex is at the same time, small and light, therefore easily transportable. Entry-level users but also more advanced ones will be able to have a powerful device, of fine workmanship and of universal nature, able to satisfy various types of vaping.

    • I thank Innokin for sending me Coolfire Z80 Nex for the review.

    • Thanks for reading.
