Well actually just the flavor shot...

So I was in DD today and I realized that most if not all of the flavorings that Lorann sells are PG based, and I thought that the DD flavor shots were probably the same.

I asked the girl if they had a nutritional fact sheet about the flavor shots and she went out back to look. Well, she returned with the bottle and let me read the ingredients. Lo and behold, it was made with a PG base.

Now, I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but my old lady works at DD, so I asked her to bring some raspberry home for me to vape.

I checked the DD website and was able to find the ingredients lists for all of the flavor shots. Here they are:

  • Raspberry Flavor [Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Water, Natural and Artificial Flavors
  • Blueberry Flavor [Glycerine, Water, Propylene Glycol, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
  • Cinnamon Flavor [Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Water, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
  • Caramel Flavor [Water, Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
  • Toasted Almond Flavor [Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
  • French Vanilla Flavor [Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
  • Coconut Flavor [Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerine, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color
So anyway, I'll either be vaping it tonight or adding it to my coffee if you guys (and girls) don't like the ingredients.

Can the more experienced vapaholics here let me know if the list is safe to vape? The only thing I'm not sure about is the Glycerine.

Thanks!

Now I just read that it has a sweetning element to it. I'm wondering if it will clog my atti.

On an interesting side note, the wiki says this as well:

"Glycerol is used for an evaporative fogging agent as an alternative to Propylene Glycol in some solutions for "electronic cigarette" use, mostly for those with a physiological sensitivity or other health concerns."

glycerin is the least of your worries..in fact the best vape comes from vegetable glycerin (ecopure is the best)
I would be more worried about inhaling artificial flavors
But all of the Lorann & Capella flavorings are artficially flavored and everyone who DIY's is vaping them. What do you use for juice? And if you DIY, what do you use to flavor it

I would think that the caramel coloring may be suspect if anything. Is that a typo or does the raspberry have none of it?
I figured raspberry would have red coloring at the least, but according to the DD sir=te it doesnt. I'll let everyone know when the old lady gets home around midnight ;)

I would e-mail some of your suppliers and ask if the flavorings they use has artificial flavorings.
Hey Tina, are you pointing that comment to me? I already know they do. But I'm mixing my own.

BTW I bought some Capellas orange cream, peaches and cream, and cool mint tonight on your recommendation. ;)

The only question is the caramel color. Loranns has caramel color in many flavorings (people disagree about whether it can clog atomizers) but of course we dilute Loranns considerably to 10-25% in PG or VG.

The other components are commonly used in eliquid -- glycerin, PG, artificial flavors, water.

Frankly, any concern about artificial flavors is misguided. The true chemical distinction between "natural" and "artificial" flavors is practically nonexistent once you've derived the flavoring down to specific compound(s). We vape and eat artificial flavors all of the time.

Well, here's my report on the Raspberry flavor shot.
I made a 3ml mix @ 36mg with 20% Raspberry flavor. I could barely taste it so I added another 20% to the mix and although it was a bit stronger, it's still pretty weak. It also has a slightly bitter element to it, but it could be used as part of a multi flavor mix, or as a PG extender. Oh well, back to the drawing board. :(
I'm still going to try some of the other flavors though. ;)

Agreed, Madame Psycho! Natural flavor is simply the compound that makes something taste the way it does. Artificial flavor means it tastes like the natural, but is a different compound and not found also in the food being mimicked.

These flavors look fine. If the toasted almond is like capellas its a good one! These may be weak, since you don't know how much they use in a recipe, but the ingredients look safe. Enjoy and let us know how they are!

Here's one for ya...
I moved to San Antonio TX during the first gulf war and was devistated to find out that there were no DD's anywhere to be found. :(
But one day I was driving down the street and low and behold there was a very small DD on the side of the road! (the only one in texas as far as I could tell)
Now, I only drink iced coffee (yes even in the winter), and it was about 100 degrees that day! Boy was I excited when I walked in the front door. I sauntered (yes sauntered) up to the counter and quite happily said I'll have a large iced coffee (there were no flavor shots back then either).
My happiness quickly turned to sadness when the woman behind the counter looked at me like I was from another planet and said what's an iced coffee? 8-o Can you believe that in a smoldering hot state like Texas they had never heard of iced coffee? Me neither.
Anyway to make a long story even longer, I was not able to find any business that sold iced coffee anywhere in San Antonio, so I used to make my own at circle K. You think you get weird looks when people see you vaping in public? Try making an iced coffee at circle K in texas. :)
